How do you balance estrogen and progesterone?

7 answers found

The requirement for maintenance of a background level of estrogen suggests that the inhibitory action of progesterone is mediated through progesterone receptor interactions.

The modifying action of progesterone appears to be dependent upon the level of estrogen, the dose of progesterone, and the time of administration.

Furthermore, our observations are in keeping with the finding that progesterone has little or no effect at the organismal or tissue level unless estrogen is present.

This supports the view that progesterone may attenuate the beneficial effects of unopposed estrogen replacement.

These data suggest that determination of the progesterone-receptor concentration is of equal or greater value than determination of the estrogen-receptor ...

Estrogen + progesterone combinations might be an exception in this regard.

These results suggest a mechanism for antagonistic effects of estrogen and progesterone.
