This research has helped establish a fundamental understanding about people as they interact with robots, how specific design choices affect interactions with robots, and how novel mechanisms or computational tools can be used to improve HRI.
This specific approach enabled us to gain knowledge of how daily work with these robots is experienced, including workers' attitudes and inherent meanings regarding the robots.
Further we have found that operational protocols, stating how to use the robots, have to be designed in order to make robots an effective tool in harsh and unstructured field environments.
