Thanks to their design, which does not include any moving parts, these meters may represent in the future the best solution to measure the consumption of natural gas for domestic use.
Preliminary results show that the ion collection efficiency is low and that the detector performance is limited by a long dead time.
Analysis and experimental results show that this toxic gas detector can monitor and store the toxic gas concentration, temperature and humidity in the room for a long time.
It is further concluded that the gas can act as a generalized detector device for all signal-gas reactions provided some suitable parameter can be monitored.
The results indicate that such a detector may be used for long periods of time in stable operating conditions provided the gas mixture is continuously flushed through the detector.
With air as the sample and drift gas streams, the performance of the detector is comparable to conventional designs employing radioactive ionisers.
As this issue is a high risk at hazardous place such as a combustible gas plant, there is an important need to use gas detector which functions to detect gas leakage at a particular area.
A combustible gas detector based on the described method appears suitable for integration into a multicomponent gas analyzer.
This detector has potential applications in environmental gas monitoring, life science, and classical and quantum communication.
Moreover, the detector can be operated at ambient condition, which largely simplifies the design of portable gas chromatograph.
This enables reproducible and long-term durable gas sensing.
This system can be applied into the airborne remote sensing detection for the long-distance natural gas leak.
The sensor is suitable for natural gas leakage monitoring application.
These results imply for the first time the possibility of designing unprecedented low-cost natural gas analyzers.
