Current practices in technology-enhanced language learning (TELL) emphasize the importance of active participation from both instructors and students, with a notable trend towards the widespread adoption of immersive technologies in language classrooms. This approach is more prevalent in university settings, although its application spans across various educational levels, including primary schools, albeit to a lesser extent. Educators are increasingly adopting a blended method of instruction, combining traditional teaching methods with digital tools such as the internet, electronic dictionaries, and social networking technologies to facilitate English language teaching and learning (ELTL). This blend aims to make learning more practical and effective by leveraging the advanced capabilities of technology. Moreover, the phenomenon of Education 4.0 has spotlighted the need for integrating technology in English Language Teaching (ELT), encouraging educators in Indonesia and beyond to adopt innovative teaching procedures that align with this new educational paradigm. However, the effective integration of technology in language education faces several hurdles, including a lack of training for educators and an overwhelming array of tools from which to choose. Efforts to overcome these challenges include global online courses and comparative case studies aimed at improving educators' technological integration skills. Furthermore, meta-analysis studies have underscored the effectiveness of mobile learning and ICT tools in enhancing learners' language skills, highlighting the necessity for ongoing support and professional development for teachers in this area. The literature also suggests a slow adoption of new technologies among ESP teachers due to various factors, including lack of awareness and deficient computer literacy. Nonetheless, principles drawn from computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) literature offer guidelines for integrating technology into teaching, covering tools like corpora, web-based materials, and computer-mediated communication (CMC). Additionally, the current status of CALL teacher education indicates a need for improvement in training programs to better prepare educators for the technological demands of modern language teaching. In the realm of idiomatic language instruction, technological tools such as language games, applications, and movie clips have been explored for their potential to enhance student acquisition of idiomatic expressions, further illustrating the diverse applications of technology in language education.
