What are the issues in conventional attendance checking?
5 answers
The issues in conventional attendance checking systems include the potential for workers to cheat by having others punch in for them, leading to inaccurate attendance records. Additionally, traditional methods may result in delays, tedious operating steps, and queuing at fixed positions, causing time inefficiencies and sign-in delays. Furthermore, there are concerns about fairness and accuracy when workers are clamped to be late due to queuing or card-related issues, impacting the overall integrity of attendance tracking. To address these challenges, innovative solutions such as face recognition-based attendance systems have been developed to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and security in attendance management. Mobile-based attendance systems have also emerged to improve efficiency by eliminating the need for on-site attendance checks, enhancing accuracy and overall attendance tracking effectiveness.
What is bluetooth?
5 answers
Bluetooth is a widely adopted wireless technology designed for short-range, low-power communication. Initially developed to replace cables in connecting devices like mobile phones and headsets, Bluetooth has evolved into a standard for forming Personal Area Networks (PANs) and ad hoc networks, enabling seamless connections without the need for installations or software drivers. The technology encompasses both Bluetooth Classic for high-throughput services and Bluetooth Low Energy for low-power applications, with specified security mechanisms like pairing and cross-transport key derivation. Bluetooth's open specification, low cost, and ability to support voice and data make it ideal for various devices to communicate wirelessly. Additionally, Bluetooth's interoperability requirements demand significant effort from application developers, leading to the creation of various Bluetooth development platforms to facilitate easier application development.
What are the issues on manual methods for attendance checking?
5 answers
Manual methods for attendance checking pose several issues such as human error, time consumption, and security vulnerabilities. Traditional methods like calling out names or passing around attendance sheets are prone to errors and can be time-consuming. These methods also lack efficiency and can be insecure, potentially compromising personal data. Moreover, manual attendance tracking requires significant upkeep and can be distracting for both instructors and students. To address these challenges, various digital techniques like face recognition and ID card scanning have been proposed to streamline the attendance process and enhance accuracy. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced new challenges with face recognition systems due to the mandatory use of face masks, impacting the system's ability to accurately identify individuals.
What ist GAN, RNN and CNN?
5 answers
Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) are a type of neural network consisting of a generator and a discriminator that compete to generate new instances resembling the training data distribution. Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are designed for sequential data processing, allowing information to persist. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are specialized in processing grid-like data, such as images, by using convolutional layers to extract features and make them ideal for tasks like image classification and object detection. In summary, GANs focus on generating new data instances, RNNs are suitable for sequential data analysis, and CNNs excel in processing grid-like data, particularly in image-related tasks.
How does mathematical optimization modelling contribute to minimizing power losses in electricity distribution ?
5 answers
Mathematical optimization modeling plays a crucial role in minimizing power losses in electricity distribution systems. Various studies have proposed optimization models to address this issue. For instance, research has focused on utilizing techniques like Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Newton-Raphson (NR) to minimize line losses by implementing grid strategies such as real power sharing, reactive power injection, and transformer tap changing. Additionally, the application of Second Order Cone Program (SOCP) relaxation has been suggested to solve the nonconvex and NP-hard optimization problem of the Alternating Current Optimal Power Flow (ACOPF), contributing to reducing active power losses in distribution systems. Moreover, the use of mixed-integer convex formulations and optimization models based on electrical momentum concepts have shown effectiveness in minimizing power losses in asymmetric distribution grids. These optimization techniques aid in enhancing system reliability and performance by reducing power losses and improving voltage profiles.
