5 answers
During work immersion in senior high school, students engage in business simulations to prepare for future careers. The immersion experience involves collaboration between schools, teachers, students, and the community. Students develop skills, competencies, and work ethics through real workplace experiences, enhancing their employability and self-confidence. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, students adapted to home-based work immersion, facing challenges like unstable internet connections and time management, yet still developing their competencies as future graduates. The students' performance in work immersion showcases their potential as future employees, with both male and female students demonstrating similar levels of job skills, emphasizing the importance of enhancing academic performance and providing additional training opportunities for students.
What are actual work immersion business concept?
5 answers
Actual work immersion in the business context involves providing learners with real workplace experiences to develop new skills, increase employability, and jumpstart their professional growth. This approach aims to immerse students in the actual world of business, bridging the gap between theory and practice through immersive/experiential learning (EIL) methodologies. By integrating cases, scenarios, and cutting-edge technologies like AI, IoT, blockchain, and quantum computing, students are guided through simulated business technology adoption cases to enhance their problem-solving abilities and practical understanding of business operations. The concept of work immersion in business settings not only builds workplace skills and competencies but also fosters confidence, efficiency, and interpersonal communication skills among learners, preparing them for future professional endeavors.
How does studying abroad impact a student's career prospects and earning potential?
4 answers
Studying abroad has been a focal point of educational strategies aimed at enhancing students' career prospects and earning potential, yet its impact varies across different contexts and individual experiences. The Science without Borders program, despite its ambitious goals, did not significantly increase postgraduate enrollment among participants nor did it enhance their chances of formal employment or entrepreneurship in Brazil, suggesting that the anticipated career benefits of such programs might not always materialize as expected. Similarly, the Erasmus mobility program, despite its popularity, has shown that Polish students studying abroad do not enjoy a higher employment rate after graduation, indicating that the positive effects of international study experiences on employment may not be universally guaranteed. However, the personal and professional development attributed to studying abroad cannot be overlooked. Students participating in international mobility programs, such as those between Indonesia and Australia, often report enhanced career direction and employability, attributed to the acquisition of advanced knowledge, intercultural skills, and intellectual capital. This is echoed in the nursing field, where study abroad experiences are reported to shape nurses' professional perspectives and practice, highlighting the transformative potential of international educational experiences on career development. The impact of studying abroad on earning potential and career advancement is also influenced by social origin. In Germany, for instance, students from higher social origins who study abroad tend to benefit more in terms of labour income compared to their lower social origin counterparts, suggesting that international student mobility might contribute to the reproduction of social inequality within the labour market. Furthermore, study abroad programs are often credited with improving participants' language skills, intercultural communicative competence, and making them more attractive to employers, especially when programs include components like homestay, group travel, and academic leadership. Despite these benefits, the direct correlation between studying abroad and immediate employment rates or earning potential is complex and influenced by various factors, including the field of study, the duration of the study abroad program, and the socio-economic background of the student. In conclusion, while studying abroad offers numerous developmental benefits that can enhance a student's employability and career prospects, its impact on immediate employment rates and earning potential is nuanced and influenced by a range of factors, including the student's social background and the specific characteristics of the study abroad experience.

What are some of the main disadvantages of using classical labour market theory in South Africa?
4 answers
Classical labor market theory falls short in explaining the complexities of the South African labor market due to various factors highlighted in the provided contexts. The rigid labor market institutions, crisis in collective bargaining, prevalence of labor broking, challenges with minimum wage determination, and policies hindering job creation all contribute to the limitations of classical theory. Additionally, the high degree of inflexibility and complexity in the labor market, compounded by xenophobic sentiments, racial exclusion, and gender bias, particularly affect international migrants and tied migrants in South Africa, leading to difficulties in integration and inequality in the labor market. Furthermore, the gig economy in South Africa, analyzed through a Marxist lens, reveals the poor working conditions and subjugation of platform workers to ICT platforms, showcasing a different dynamic that classical theory fails to capture.
