The subjective warrants that people have for the profession of physical education are crucial for a complete understanding of recruitment into the profession and the effectiveness of professional education programs.
The fact that more than growth and fitness and physical skills are being affected is resulting in a higher regard for physical education.
Physical education, as an integral part of the Finnish education curriculum, potentially contributes to the overall success.
Although some physical education programs could arguably be classified as being of a sound quality according to the national subject association, we contend that more needs to be done to present the subject as a diverse enterprise, both in terms of who teaches and what is taught in physical education.
To the extent that they are successful, recent policy initiatives in relation to physical education are likely to work against the promotion of those forms of exercise which are most beneficial to health and thus hinder the promotion of health-related exercise in physical education.
