A design with a bandwidth of 178 MHz centered at 1.8 GHz is provided to demonstrate that compact antennas for mobile telephone handsets can be constructed using this approach.
Results show that these antennas, mounted on a box simulating the handset, are characterized by radiating performance comparable to, or better than, typical cellular telephones.
Furthermore, it was possible to provide natural communication with hands-free telephone systems.
