In contrast with Hinds, we show that previously existing developer-developer ties are an indicator of past and future project popularity.
This study found that (a) pre-work formal education was positively associated with salary only at hiring, (b) employees' experience in changing production technology as well as on-the-job training were positively associated with salary increases through improved technical proficiency, formal education was not; (c) manufacturing firms introduced more new production technology than the service sector and provided more on-the-job training, thus improving workers' performance and increasing their salary.
Significant developer productivity gains and software quality improvement are expected with the use of software development tools and methods.
Since salary does vary over an academic's career, the stable salary stream scenario is empirically irrelevant.
We conclude that developer metrics are good predictor of faults and we must consider the human factors for improving the software reliability.

This research concludes that several salary as well as several non-salary factors affect the decisions of IT sales professionals to maintain employment with their current em- ployer.
Our findings show that having strong logical reasoning and hypothesis testing skills are differentiating factors in the software developer/tester performance in terms of defect rates.
