These findings could be quite relevant, especially to other developing countries, in their quest for sustainable development.
With good policies, appropriate integrative strategies, commitment and political will, the country may attain a sustainable development path.
This paper proposes a methodology to evaluate sustainable development at a local level, the use of which could be helpful in comparing different regions within a country or even among different countries.
It is thus prospective that the environmental sustainability will be in line with the education for sustainable development.
Based on these results, we have provided policy implications for attaining sustainable development in these nations.
Our study also provides practical implications for catalysing sustainable development in those countries with traits of environmental decentralisation and disparate development.
