Specialized forms of tourism are successful in the montane forests however, and the future of national parks in these areas would seem to be assured.
The temporal and spatial relationships shown by these latter parks exemplify those found throughout the national park system and suggest parallels with the political creation of nation-states.

While SDTF, savanna, and rain forest have complex relationships and perhaps represent points on a continuum of vegetation types, there are in general clear ecological differences between savanna and SDTF that must be taken into account when considering the effects of climate on tropical forests.
According to some conservationists, large, pristine, uninhabited parks are the defining criterion of success in conserving tropical forests.
