What are the most problematic user experiences when using intelligent services?5 answersUsers face various problematic experiences when using intelligent services. These include unintended behaviors, unpredictability, and negative side effects (NSEs). Additionally, users encounter issues related to content, algorithms, user choice, and feedback, which can be attributed to algorithmic decision-making in apps. Furthermore, the limitations of artificial intelligence (AI) in handling exception events, finding creative solutions, and making ethical evaluations necessitate human oversight in complex tasks. These challenges highlight the importance of user control, explanations of output, and the need for user-friendly interfaces to enhance the usability and effectiveness of intelligent systems.
How does the Netflix Recommender System influence viewers' decision-making process?4 answersThe Netflix Recommender System influences viewers' decision-making process by providing personalized recommendations based on their interests and preferences. This system saves users time by filtering a large volume of content and presenting them with a list of movies or shows that align with their searching interest. By using machine learning algorithms like Collaborative Filtering and Weighted Slope One, the system analyzes user behavior and feedback to generate accurate recommendations. Additionally, the system continuously trains itself to adapt to changing user tastes and interests, ensuring that the recommendations remain relevant. However, there are concerns about the impact of recommender systems on user autonomy and the potential for algorithmic control. These systems may prioritize engagement and voyeuristic modes of consumption, potentially limiting users' ability to form second-order desires and consider what they truly want.
What are the vulnerabilities in the privacy, protection, and security of Netflix?5 answersThe vulnerabilities in the privacy, protection, and security of Netflix have been studied in several papers. One vulnerability is the leakage of fine-grained information from encrypted video traffic, which can be used to build behavioral profiles of viewers. Another vulnerability is the potential unauthorized access to cloud services, particularly in the case of Netflix, which is a cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) provider. Additionally, there is a need to protect visual content against unseen classifiers and known defenses, as adversarial perturbations may be ineffective against them. These vulnerabilities highlight the importance of addressing privacy and security concerns in the context of Netflix and other streaming platforms.
