About Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a deemed-to-be private university and eminence college located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The multi-campus, multi-disciplinary university currently has six campuses spanning Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, with 15 constituent schools in it. It offers a total of 207 programs in engineering, medicine, business, arts & sciences, biotechnology, mass communication and social work, including undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated, dual degree, doctoral and certification programmes. The university was established in 1994 by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi with the opening of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, and is run by her international humanitarian organization Mata Amritanandamayi Math. In 2003, when the UGC granted this status, it became one of the youngest institutes to be deemed a university.
