Aligarh Muslim University (abbreviated as AMU) is a public central university in Aligarh, India which was originally known as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College by Syed Ahmad Khan in 1875. In 1920, following the Aligarh Muslim University Act, Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College became an Aligarh Muslim University. It has three off-campus centers in Malappuram (Kerala), center AMU Murshidabad (West Bengal), and Kishanganj Centre (Bihar).
