TL;DR: This chapter describes many aspects of time-division multiplexing-passive optical network (-) technology, including TDM-PON, in detail for both ITU-T- and IEEE-based PONs.
Abstract: This chapter describes many aspects of time-division multiplexing-passive optical network (-) technology. TDM-PON is the architecture for optical access systems preferred by many network operators, due to its low operational and capital expenses. After the overview, topics related to the physical layer, such as burst-mode transmission and analog video distribution, are addressed. Then, topics in the higher layers of the network, such as the access control technologies, dynamic bandwidth allocation, security and privacy issues, protection switching and methods to improve energy efficiency like sleep modes, are described in detail for both ITU-T- and IEEE-based PONs. Finally, we conclude with a section on technologies beyond 10G PON.

TL;DR: In this article, a rapid screening method based on LOS state abnormity of a 10G PON optical module is proposed for automatically and quickly screening, displaying is carried out through control, a worker is informed in time, and a GPON ONU with an abnormal monitoring function is prevented from influencing the whole communication link.
Abstract: The invention discloses a rapid screening method based on LOS state abnormity of a 10G PON optical module, and the method comprises the following steps: S1, enabling a to-be-screened 10G PON optical module to be placed in an aging box, and carrying out the aging processing of a specified temperature value and a specified duration value; S2, after the 10G PON optical mode is processed in step S1, continuously recording an RX report power value; S3, when the reporting power values of the continuous records RX in the step S2 are all smaller than-37dBm, judging that the 10G PON optical module is in a normal LOS state, and outputting and displaying the state; when any RX report power value continuously recorded in the step S2 is not less than-37dBm, judging that the 10G PON optical module is inan LOS state exception, and outputting and displaying the state. For the condition that the LOS state of the optical module is abnormal, the method disclosed in the solution can be used for automatically and quickly screening, displaying is carried out through control, a worker is informed in time, and a GPON ONU with an abnormal monitoring function is prevented from influencing the whole communication link.
