Abstract: The paper presents techno-economic results for fixed access networks which have been achieved within the IST MUSE (Multi Service Access Everywhere; http://www.ist-muse.org ) integrated project in the first phase. The article summarises the results from studies of two major use cases, Network Migration Cases and the Native Ethernet approach. The results are based on a common framework. A specific attention is paid to the first mile deployment scenarios including Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTCab) and Point-to-Point optical networks (PtP). It has been observed that the migration from a best effort access network to a Quality of Service (QoS) enabled multi-service architecture based on Ethernet or IP forwarding is favourable in comparison with an ATM-based evolution scenario. Service enabling new network functionalities like Quality of Service (QoS), multicast and Internet (IP) based auto-configurations are moving closer to subscribers. This leads to an increased intelligence in access networks and related potential Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) savings of about 25% in aggregation networks.

TL;DR: A QoS-enabled dynamic bandwidth assignment algorithm for differentiated service in Ethernet passive optical networks is proposed and based on the weights of the different classes and the current queue information to perform better per class bandwidth allocation.
Abstract: Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is an emerging access network technology that provides a low-cost method of deploying next generation broadband access network. Dynamic bandwidth assignment (DBA) provides statistical multiplexing between the optical network units for upstream channel utilization. To satisfy various QoS requirements, it is important to provide QoS guaranteed network access while utilizing the bandwidth efficiently. We propose a QoS-enabled dynamic bandwidth assignment algorithm for differentiated service in Ethernet passive optical networks. The new DBA algorithm is based on the weights of the different classes and the current queue information to perform better per class bandwidth allocation. The specific QoS requirements of various classes are mapped into deterministic effective bandwidth and then used to assign weights accordingly. We conduct detailed simulation experiments to study the performance and validate the effectiveness of the proposed protocols

Abstract: A SDN-based XG-PON1 Network Architecture is proposed. A XG-PON1 includes many management technologies that is ONU Management, DHCP Server Management, AAA Server Management, OLT Switch Control, PIU(PON Interface Unit) Control, and OMCI. We proposed a SDN-based XG-PON1 Architecture to manage these functions.

TL;DR: The main idea of this paper is to build a fabricated environment that allows to analyse the depth on FTTx networks and decide which is the most preferable option for this environment and to explain the design and planning of a passive optical network based fiber to the home architecture.
Abstract: The steady increase in the demand for broadband services and the consequent increase in the volume of generated traffic in our communication networks have motivated the need to implement next generation networks in our territories. Optical Fibre cable is used as media to design long/short network and it supports high bandwidth in Gigabits per second speed. Earlier OFC is used to connect the long distance places and called Optical Transport Network and presently used even in local/Access network called Optical Access Network. In present environment data to be transmitted is so high due to growth in internet. Successful transmission of such a huge bandwidth is big challenging job for long distance network designer. All customers require the QOS and they are interested to make SLA for their service to be obtained from Service provider. ISP should design their network to support the customer requirement suitably otherwise ISP cannot survive in this competitive environment. This paper aims to explain the design and planning of a passive optical network based fiber to the home architecture. The main idea of this paper is to build a fabricated environment that allows us to analyse the depth on FTTx networks and decide which is the most preferable option for this environment. Finally, the simulation software that meets the design requirements will be chosen, the design of passive optical network will be made and the results justify that the network is more viable and can be implemented in a real time.
