Abstract: A ternary solid-liquid diagram of the system p-cresol, 2,6-xylenol, and tert-butyl alcohol is prepared. tert-Butyl alcohol can be used as an extraneous agent for the separation of p-cresol from its mixture with 2,6-xylenol by adductive crystallization in a multistage process, both of these compounds being close-boilling components of the mixture
