TL;DR: In this paper, the stability of 10 selected polar organic compounds in canisters was investigated and the results are described in this paper, and two nonpolar compounds, methyl chloroform and toluene, shown to be stable in previous work were included in the stability study as controls.
Abstract: Because of considerable interest at US EPA for the collection of polar organic compounds in stainless steel canisters, particularly for the Toxic Air Monitoring Site (TAMS) study, the stability of 10 selected polar organics in canisters was investigated and the results are described in this paper. The polar organic compounds selected for this stability study were: methanol, acetone, isoprene, acrylonitrile, vinyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, t-butyl methyl ether, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and ethyl acrylate. Two nonpolar compounds, methyl chloroform and toluene, shown to be stable in previous work were included in the stability study as controls. The compounds were loaded in unpolished and Summa-polished canisters at parts-per-billion (ppb) levels under dry and humid conditions. The canister samples were analyzed on Days 0, 1, 3, 4, 14, and 31 after loading. The experimental procedures and stability results are summarized briefly.

TL;DR: A film of alpha-naphthalene sulfonate-doped polypyrrole/poly(methylmethacrylate), PPy/alpha-NS(-)/PMMA, obtained from solution mixing was successfully used as sensing material for acetone vapor in lacquer with a high degree of selectivity based on electrical conductivity over acetic acid and a highdegree of stability over the humidity change.

TL;DR: In this paper, the ring closure of a 2:5-diarylamino-terephthalic acid was used to precipitate quinacridone from a polyphosphoric acid solution thereof by dilution with an organic, water-miscible liquid.
Abstract: Quinacridone is precipitated from a polyphosphoric acid solution thereof by dilution with an organic, water-miscible liquid, the said solution being prepared otherwise than by the ring-closure of a 2:5-diarylamino-terephthalic acid by heating with at least an equal weight of a polyphosphoric acid having an orthophosphoric acid equivalent of at least 105%. The solution may first be diluted with water or dilute orthophosphoric acid. Organic liquids specified are methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, glycerol, diacetone alcohol, diethylene glycol, acetone or mixtures thereof with water, or a mixture of denatured alcohol, ethyl acetate and aviation gasoline. Examples are given in which the solutions are made by dissolving quinacridone in polyphosphoric acid. Specifications 828,051, 828,052 and 884,044 also are referred to.

TL;DR: The polymorphic magnesium-aluminum oxide composition is highly effective in the aldol condensation of acetone to isophorone, and other base catalyzed reactions such as isomerization of olefins, aldehydes, and also useful as catalyst supports.
Abstract: Basic mixed oxides useful for base catalyzed reactions such as the aldol condensation of acetone and also useful as catalyst supports are made by mixing an acid such as nitric acid or acetic acid with a pseudob oehmite to form a gel, adding magnesium oxide or hydroxide, in a ratio of magnesium to aluminum of about 1:1 to about 10:1, agitating and heating for about 1 to 24 hours, and subsequently drying and calcining. The resulting polymorphic magnesium-aluminum oxide composition is highly effective in the aldol condensation of acetone to isophorone, and other base catalyzed reactions such as isomerization of olefins, aldol condensation of aldehydes.
