TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction was monitored in situ by FT-infrared spectroscopy, and isopropyl hydroperoxide was detected as reaction intermediate in the case of photochemical oxidation.
Abstract: Oxidation of propane by O2 to acetone was observed in solvent-free BaY and CaY under irradiation with visible light as well as under dark thermal conditions. The reaction was monitored in situ by FT-infrared spectroscopy. In the case of the photochemical oxidation, isopropyl hydroperoxide was detected as reaction intermediate. No byproduct was observed even upon > 50% conversion of the alkane. Ethane was oxidized completely selectively to acetaldehyde in CaY under irradiation with blue light.

TL;DR: In this article, the diffusion coefficients of the extracted solubles within the ginger particles were calculated, and the results showed that solvents of low viscosity should be chosen to attain fast extraction rates.
Abstract: Summary
The kinetics of extraction of [6]-gingerol from ground Jamaican ginger rhizome have been determined at 30°C in dichloromethane, ethanol, isopropanol and an 80% (v/v) acetone + 20% (v/v) water mixture. The extractions all proceeded in three stages: an initial ‘washing’ stage, a fast stage and a subsequent much slower stage. The rate of extraction of hexahydrocurcumin in ethanol was found to follow a simpler pattern. From the first order plots, the diffusion coefficients of the extracted solubles within the ginger particles were calculated. They varied inversely with the 0.6 power of the solvent viscosity, which explained why the rates of [6]-gingerol extraction decreased in the sequence: acetone < acetone + water < dichloromethane < ethanol < isopropanol. These results show that solvents of low viscosity should be chosen to attain fast extraction rates. The diffusion coefficient of [6]-gingerol was also measured at 30°C in pure acetone, ethanol and isopropanol. The values in these bulk solvents were 13–20 times greater than the diffusion coefficients of [6]-gingerol within the ginger particles for the fast stage and over 900–1800 times greater than those for the slow stage. These hindrance factors quantify the effect of the ginger matrix environment on internal diffusion.

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the research progress of acetone oxidation by noble metal and non-noble metal catalyst systems is presented, and the effects of metal composition, support, preparation method, and morphology on the catalyst activity are discussed.
Abstract: Acetone, as a kind of typical volatile organic compounds (VOCs), is mainly discharged into the atmosphere through exhaust emissions, fuel combustion, pharmaceuticals, and printing, etc. It not only causes water pollution but also inhibits the people’s central nervous system, posing a great threat to the ecological environment and human health. Due to its economy and compatibility, the catalytic oxidation method is considered to be one of the effective methods for removing acetone. The development of low-cost and high-efficiency catalysts can bring higher economic benefits. This review covers the research progress of acetone oxidation by noble metal and non-noble metal catalyst systems, and discusses the effects of metal composition, support, preparation method, and morphology on the catalyst activity. Comparison shows that both manganese-based and cobalt-based catalysts are the good substitutes for precious metal platinum-based and palladium-based catalysts, in which the concentration of oxygen vacancies, the number of active oxygen species, and the interaction between substrates are the key factors. In addition, the possible mechanism of catalytic oxidation of acetone is given, and the development of catalytic oxidation of acetone is prospected.
