TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a catalytic catalysts for desulfurization treatment of a reaction gas and producing a hydrogen-containing gas stably for a long duration without adding steam to the reaction gas by hydrocarbon partial oxidation.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for carrying out desulfurization treatment of a reaction gas and producing a hydrogen-containing gas stably for a long duration without adding steam to the reaction gas by hydrocarbon partial oxidation. SOLUTION: The hydrocarbon partial oxidation catalyst comprises heat- resistant inorganic oxides and a platinum-group metal carried by a monolith carrier. The catalyst contains activated alumina, cerium oxide, and zirconium oxide as the heat-resistant inorganic oxides at a weight ratio of activated alumina:cerium oxide in a range of (100:15) to (100:60) and at a weight ratio of cerium oxide:zirconium oxide in a range of (100:2) to (100:60). TL;DR: A magnesium-oxide-based method (termed the IISc method) has been developed to remove fluoride from drinking water in India as discussed by the authors, which relies upon the precipitation-sedimentation-filtration technique.
Abstract: By far the most serious natural groundwater-quality problem in India derives from high fluoride, arsenic and iron concentrations. Fluoride removal from contaminated groundwater is practiced by pump and treat method; treatment is generally accomplished by addition of an aluminium sulfate–lime mixture to the pumped water or by permeating water through column of activated alumina. A magnesium-oxide-based method (termed the IISc method) has been developed to remove fluoride from drinking water. The IISc method relies upon the precipitation–sedimentation–filtration technique. Magnesium oxide addition to the contaminated groundwater removes fluoride ions through chemical reactions. The alkaline pH induced by magnesium oxide addition is neutralised by the addition of sodium bisulfate solution to the treated water. Interference from bicarbonate ions towards pH neutralisation is minimised by the addition of lime and calcium chloride solution to the untreated water. The IISc method has several advantages: chemicals...

TL;DR: In this article, an inorganic granular carrier composed essentially of activated alumina is impregnated by an impregnating method into the acidic aq. soln. of nitric acid by usig a pot mill or the like to obtain the slurry.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the catalytic activity of a titled catalyst by coating a mixed slurry of a granular catalyst deposited a novel metal dispersively, a metallic oxide powder and an aq. soln. of nitric acid on an inorganic granular carrier composed essentially of activated alumina. CONSTITUTION:After an inorganic granular carrier composed essentially of activated alumina is impregnated by an impregnating method into the acidic aq. soln. of nitric acid of a novel metal such as platinum and rhodium by using the aq. soln. of nitirc acid by such amount that the pH of said soln. is regulated to <=1.0, the novel metal is fixed into said granular carrier in the form of a sulfide by using the aq. soln. of sodium thiosulfate and the carrier is dried and calcined at the temperature of 550 deg.C. A rare earth metallic nitrate and rare earth metallic oxide are added to said granular catalyst and the mixture is crushed and kneaded together with the aq. soln. of nitric acid by usig a pot mill or the like to obtain the slurry. Said slurry is coated on cordierite-one body type carrier composed essentially of silica, alumina and magnesia, and the carrier is dried and calcined.

TL;DR: In this article, a regenerating and processing method for activated alumina used in the process of hydrogen peroxide working solution regeneration is presented, which is economical, environment-friendly and safe.
Abstract: The invention provides a regenerating and processing method for activated alumina used in the process of hydrogen peroxide working solution regeneration. The method comprises the following steps: inactivated alumina discharged from a solution regeneration bed in the process of hydrogen peroxide production and alumina inert for burning enter a tower reaction vessel from the upper part of the vessel, and move downwards according to the gravity, the gas containing oxygen enters a reaction vessel from the lower part of the tower reaction vessel and moves upwards; after reaction, the regenerated alumina and the alumina inert for burning are discharged from a material outlet device at the bottom part of the reaction vessel and tail gas is discharged from a tail gas outlet at the upper part of the reaction vessel; and the reaction temperature ranges from 360 to 800 DEG C, and the detention time of solid material in the reactor is 3 to 15 hours. The method of the invention is economical, environment-friendly and safe. In addition, the obtained regenerated alumina has no poisoning risk to the production of catalyst Pd and has low treatment cost, thereby having great value for popularization.
