TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to purify HC, CO and SOF to reduce the discharge amount of diesel particulate and to prevent poisoning of a catalytic metal.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To purify HC, CO and SOF, to reduce not only the discharge amount of a diesel particulate but also the discharge amount of sulfate and to prevent the poisoning of a catalytic metal. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst consists of a carrier base material 1, the activated alumina layer 2 formed to the surface of the carrier base material, the catalytic metal 3 supported on the activated alumina layer 2 and the coating layer 4 formed to the surface of the activated alumina layer 2 and composed of at least one component selected from alumina, titania and silica and oxide of at least one kind of a metal selected from Mn, Co, Sn, Fe, Ca, Ni, Ce, Zr, Mg and Cu is added to the coating layer 4.

TL;DR: In this paper, a sulfamide contg. impurities is dissolved in a polar org. solvent such as methyl acetate, acetonitrile or 1,4-dioxane, and one or more kinds of absorbents selected among activated alumina, zeolite and a molecular sieve each having >=7 pH surface acidity measured with a Nishicater indicator are added to the soln.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain high purity sulfamide useful to produce intermediates of dyes and pharmaceuticals by bringing a soln. of sulfamide contg. impurities in an org. solvent into contact with a specified inorg. solid absorbent. CONSTITUTION:Sulfamide contg. impurities is dissolved in a polar org. solvent such as methyl acetate, acetonitrile or 1,4-dioxane to prepare a soln., and one or more kinds of inorg. solid absorbents selected among activated alumina, zeolite and a molecular sieve each having >=7 pH surface acidity measured with a Nishicater indicator are added to the soln. The soln, is brought into contact with the adsorbents by stirring to allow the impurities to be adsorbed on the adsorbents. The adsorbents are then filtered off, the resulting filtrate is heated under reduced pressure to remove the org. solvent, and the remainder is vacuum-dried to obtain high purity sulfamide.

TL;DR: In this paper, the average diameter, aspect ratio, and specific surface area of the flaky activated alumina carrier were specified and the pH of a suspension of this carrier was 3.0-5.0.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To render superior characteristics as the carrier of a pigment to a flaky activated alumina carrier and to make the alumina carrier suitable for cosmetics by specifying the average diameter, aspect ratio and specific surface area of the alumina carrier. CONSTITUTION: This flaky activated alumina carrier has 0.1-50μm average diameter, 10-100 aspect ratio and 30-350m 2 /g specific surface area. The pH of a suspension of this carrier is 3.0-5.0. Flaky metallic Al having 0.1-50μm average diameter, 10-100 aspect ratio and 2-20m 2 /g specific surface area is subjected to alkali treatment at pH 7.1-11.0 and dried and/or fired to produce the alumina carrier. Org. coloring matter is adsorbed on the carrier and the surface of the carrier is hydrothermally treated to obtain a combined pigment. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio

TL;DR: In this paper, an adsorption process utilizing activated alumina and activated bauxite adsorbents was evaluated as a function of operating parameters for the removal of low level radioactive contaminants from organic waste solvent generated in the fuel reprocessing facilities and support operations at Savannah River Site.
Abstract: An adsorption process utilizing activated alumina and activated bauxite adsorbents was evaluated as a function of operating parameters for the removal of low level radioactive contaminants from organic waste solvent generated in the fuel reprocessing facilities and support operations at Savannah River Site. The waste solvent, 30 vol% tributyl phosphate in n-paraffin diluent, was degraded due to hydrolysis and radiolysis reaction of tributyl phosphate and n-paraffin diluent, producing fission product binding degradation impurities. The process, which has the potential for removing these activity-binding degradation impurities from the solvent, was operated downflow through glass columns packed with activated alumina and activated bauxite adsorbents. Experimental breakthrough curves were obtained under various operating temperatures and flow rates. The results show that the adsorption capacities of activated alumina and activated bauxite were in the order of 10{sup 4} and 10{sup 5} dpm/g of adsorbent, respectively. The performance of the adsorption process was evaluated in terms of dynamic parameters (i.e., adsorption capacity, the height and the efficiency of adsorption zone) in such a way as to maximize the adsorption capacity and to minimize the height of the mass transfer or adsorption zone.
