TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the K-band spatial combining system based on the tapered-slot antenna arrays integrated in an oversized rectangular waveguide, and the active antenna cards were designed and built monolithically.
Abstract: This paper presents the K-band spatial combining system based on the tapered-slot antenna arrays integrated in an oversized rectangular waveguide. The active antenna cards were designed and built monolithically, and a preliminary result of a 2/spl times/4 system has been presented in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, an inflatable coplanar patch antenna array was designed to increase the Technology readiness level (TRL) to 3 for future space-based radio astronomy antennas.
Abstract: This paper presents the design of an inflatable coplanar patch antenna array as to increase the Technology readiness level (TRL) to 3 for application into future space-based radio astronomy antennas. The objective of this antenna is to communicate at 2.4 GHz with Earth when placed on a rocket. The advantage of using an inflatable antenna at its final destination in space is the ability to pack it in a small volume and unpack it in space. Earlier inflatable antennas have been designed as reflector antennas, thereby using the inflatable antenna surface as a passive reflective surface using metallized film. Previous research related to active inflatable antennas has focussed on the feasibility of using active antenna elements on an inflatable antenna for an ultra low frequency radio astronomy application. In this work, two designs are made on thin film and their electrical performance and structure is tested. These designs consist of a 2 by 4 patch antenna array, which are fed via coplanar waveguide connected to a micro coaxial connectors which have the advantage on being small and lightweight and lockable as to increase the retention force. The second design also contains a feeding network including a CPW Wilkinson divider and T-Junction. These prints were made from gold with a metal thickness of 150 nm on 25 µm thick BoPET film. Measurements and simulations show a double-sided realized gain of 11.8 dBi is achieved, excluding cable losses.

TL;DR: In this article, a novel antenna apparatus embodying a non-radiating transmission line section feeding active antenna dipole elements and the like for operation over a multifrequency range is described.
Abstract: This disclosure deals with a novel antenna apparatus embodying a nonradiating transmission line section feeding active antenna dipole elements and the like for operation over a multifrequency range, wherein use is made of resistance connected at a critical location across the nonradiating transmission line section for enabling the reduction of secondary lobes and interference in antenna reception or equivalent problems in antenna transmission.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the prototype low-SHF-band C-RAN Massive MIMO system can increase RAN system capacity and improve cell edge performance.
Abstract: This paper describes our activities related to massive multi input and multi output (MIMO) for use in 5G radio access network (RAN). To achieve capacity enhancement and low power consumption, Massive MIMO has drawn attention as a key technology. Our research focuses on utilizing Massive MIMO in the low super-high-frequency (SHF) band, which is expected to be used for 5G commercial bands relatively soon, and on enhancing spectrum efficiency by spatial multiplexing with a low-SHF-band Massive MIMO antenna. The present work introduces a prototype low-SHF-band Centralized-RAN (C-RAN) Massive MIMO System including a low-SHF-band Massive MIMO active antenna system (AAS) that has 64 antenna elements, reports on outdoor downlink (DL) multi-user (MU) MIMO and inter access point (AP) coordination evaluations with the prototype system, and presents the results of the evaluations. The results demonstrate that the prototype low-SHF-band C-RAN Massive MIMO system can increase RAN system capacity and improve cell edge performance.

TL;DR: In this article, conditions of oscillations' switching to chaos are discussed, and the obtained results could be used for designing of noise generators of active antenna arrays, which is a very interesting topic.
Abstract: The present paper addresses to investigation of switching between chaotic and stable oscillations of active determinate oscillating system which is microwave oscillator. Conditions of oscillations' switching to chaos are discussed. The system of oscillations is excited by negative resistance of non-linear element which is avalanche transit time oscillator diode. The obtained results could be used for designing of noise generators of active antenna arrays.
