TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the work that was done to produce an active antenna that meets the technical needs of future SARs but is relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and describe such an antenna that has been designed, constructed and tested, and is incorporated into a SAR airborne demonstrator.
Abstract: In order to realize their full potential, future spaceborne, Earth-surveillance, synthetic aperture radars (SARs) will require better antennas than their predecessors; while the steering requirements remain sensibly unaltered, greater fractional bandwidth will often be essential and dual-linear polarization will become a highly desirable feature. Antennas that can meet these anticipated future needs are usually planar phased arrays and potential designs have been reported in the open literature. While the technical efficacy of these reported designs is not in question, it is not clear that antennas based on these designs would be inexpensive to manufacture. This paper describes the work that was done to produce an active antenna that meets the technical needs of future SARs but is relatively inexpensive to manufacture. Finally, it describes such an antenna that has been designed, constructed and tested, and is to be incorporated into a SAR airborne demonstrator.

TL;DR: In this paper, an integrated type active antenna is provided to receive various communication services such as AM/FM, TV, GPS, PCS, and satellite broadcasting signals by using a two-dimensional patch array antenna.
Abstract: PURPOSE: An integrated type active antenna is provided to receive various communication services such as AM/FM, TV, GPS, PCS, and satellite broadcasting signals by using a two-dimensional patch array antenna. CONSTITUTION: An integrated type active antenna includes an array antenna(10), a plurality of phase displacement amplification portions(20), a control portion(30), and an N-way power synthesizer(40). The array antenna(10) is used for receiving a satellite signal or a sky wave. The phase displacement amplification portions(20) are connected to the array antenna(10), respectively. The phase displacement amplification portion(20) has one chip or one module including a low noise amplifier(20a) for amplifying low noise and a phase displacement unit(20b). The control portion(30) controls the phase displacement unit(20b). The N-way power synthesizer(40) is used for receiving signals from the phase displacement amplification portions(20) to synthesize the received signals.

TL;DR: In this article, an active antenna system with multiple feed ports and a control method of the active antenna was described, which includes an antenna radiation element, a first feed port and a second feed port.
Abstract: An active antenna system with multiple feed ports and a control method of the active antenna system are provided. The active antenna system includes an antenna radiation element, a first feed port and a second feed port. If the first control circuit is in a close state, the first feed port and a first physical position of the antenna radiation element are connected with each other, so that a signal is fed to the antenna radiation element through the first feed port and the first physical position. If the second control circuit is in the close state, the second feed port and a second physical position of the antenna radiation element are connected with each other, so that the signal is fed to the antenna radiation element through the second feed port and the second physical position.

TL;DR: In this article, a radar system consisting of a transmit antenna, a receive antenna and a mixer for combining a signal received by said receive antenna with a reference signal to produce an output signal is presented.
Abstract: A radar system comprising a transmit antenna, a receive antenna and a mixer for combining a signal received by said receive antenna with a reference signal to produce an output signal. The transmit antenna includes an active antenna oscillator, the reference signal being derived from the active antenna oscillator. The active antenna oscillator is turned on and off by a pulse modulated biasing signal to produce a pulse modulated RF signal. The reference signal is delayed before being supplied to the mixer, the output of the mixer being used to determine when a detected object is a pre-determined distance from the system.

TL;DR: In this article, the design achievements on an active antenna able to guarantee the link with the chosen geostationary satellite in Ku band in order to supply in flight entertainment services on aircraft.
Abstract: This paper deals with the design achievements on an active antenna able to guarantee the link with the chosen geostationary satellite in Ku band in order to supply in flight entertainment services on aircraft. The aim is to realize a future affordable innovative commercial product based on an antenna system not containing any mechanical moving parts at the same time able to steer the beam as well as to align the polarization through the use of custom electronic device.
