TL;DR: In this article, an active antenna device includes a coupler between the terminal and the antenna that is configured to decouple a signal portion from the signal to be transmitted, and an energy converter is connected between the coupler and the controller and configured to provide a power signal for the operation of the controller based on the decoupled signal portion.
Abstract: An active antenna device includes a terminal for receiving a signal to be transmitted, and an antenna for generating a radio signal based on the signal to be transmitted. The active antenna device further includes a controller that is configured to control the antenna depending on the intended properties of the radio signal. The active antenna device includes a coupler between the terminal and the antenna that is configured to decouple a signal portion from the signal to be transmitted. The active antenna device further includes an energy converter that is connected between the coupler and the controller and configured to provide a power signal for the operation of the controller based on the decoupled signal portion.

TL;DR: In this article, a microstrip patch antenna for microwave power transfer was proposed, which functioned as a class-F load and DC block, and achieved 5.59 dBi at 2.45 GHz.
Abstract: This study proposes a novel microstrip patch antenna for microwave power transfer that functions as a class-F load and DC block. These functions enable a direct connection between an antenna and a power device (field-effect transistor) without using a class-F load circuit and capacitor for a DC block. In numerical simulations of a 2.45-GHz antenna, a reflection coefficient is -21.27 dB at the fundamental frequency, and a reflection coefficient and phase at the 3rd harmonic frequency are -0.99 dB and -1.4o, respectively. The simulated gain is 5.59 dBi at 2.45 GHz.

TL;DR: This chapter shows that the simultaneous requirement for wideband and multiple channels opens the way to new beamforming techniques and waveforms, where different signals are simultaneously transmitted in different directions, for jointly coding space and time, and coherently processed in parallel on receive.
Abstract: The purpose of this chapter is to outline the main possibilities and to show that the simultaneous requirement for wideband and multiple channels opens the way to new beamforming techniques and waveforms, where different signals are simultaneously transmitted in different directions, for jointly coding space and time, and coherently processed in parallel on receive. Such concepts, first proposed and demonstrated by S. Drabowitch and J. Dorey, should now be considered as mature techniques to be implemented in operational systems.

TL;DR: A new compact energy-harvesting module is proposed with compact design techniques, based on an active antenna concept and a direct matching technique, that has been applied to a wireless wake-up receiver system with excellent operating performance.
Abstract: A new compact energy-harvesting module is proposed with compact design techniques. The rectifying circuit eliminates the band-pass filter and matching circuit, based on an active antenna concept and a direct matching technique. For exact circuit impedance, via holes are processed with precise fabrication techniques. The implemented circuit has achieved a circuit size reduction of 76.7%. The proposed system has been applied to a wireless wake-up receiver system with excellent operating performance.
