Abstract: In this paper, An active antenna of T-DMB was developed to equip to handhold gadgets by using LNA and a parasitic element allowing to miniature. The size of the fabricated active antenna is and FR4 is used for the substrate. The size of the proposed antenna is reduced by 38.8% at the operating frequency compared to one without a parasitic element, and a short stub. The proposed antenna shows improved performance at the measurement especially in the ratio of S/N compared with conventional monopole of 300 mm. The proposed antenna is well able to adapt into handhold gadgets for receiving T-DMB.

Abstract: The thesis deals with the precision approach radar (PAR) problematics focusing on active antenna arrays with application of adaptive methods of angle of arrival estimation. First of all, the thesis introduces some possible PAR antenna arrays solutions. These solutions are then optimized to reduce the number of antenna elements and to enhance its angular resolution. The methods of angular resolution improvement are described and analysed in details. The difficulties of the adaptive methods of the angle of arrival estimation, especially of the coherent signals reception and the number of incoming signals estimation are analysed and their possible solutions are shown and experimentally verified.

Abstract: For the existing audio broadcast services FM and DAB (VHF-band), a new adaptive switchable windscreen antenna is presented for antenna diversity. Depending on the switching status, the antenna yields various versions of advantageous and well-established windscreen antenna structures. In order to deal with the different occurring antenna impedances, the adaptive antenna is connected to a special high-impedance amplifier and the results of the frequency responses are shown. By appropriate design of the filter network between the two stages of the amplifier the diverse frequency responses of the active antenna structures can be smoothed. In contrast to standard 50-Ohm amplifiers, which are very restricted regarding possible antenna impedances, it is possible to apply just one single high-impedance amplifier for car antenna structures with varying impedance behavior, as long as just a few conditions are met. This results in a lean and effective interface between the active windscreen antenna and the radio.

Abstract: An ultra wideband active antenna platform can be deployed globally. A plug-and-play radio unit is removably attached to an outside of the active antenna. The PAPR can be removably plugged into a docking station to provide different technology or frequency bands specific for customers in different regions without the costly replacement of the whole antenna. In addition, the heat-generating sources (power amplifiers) with heavy heatsink structures are separated from the main antenna body, so that the whole active antenna can be installed separately since the installation weight of the antenna would be reduced.
