Abstract: PURPOSE: A detachable USB active antenna is provided to improve an antenna gain by mounting a low noise amplifier on an extern antenna. CONSTITUTION: An active antenna(100) is comprised of an antenna unit(110) and an antenna connection unit(130). The antenna unit includes a monopole antenna comprised of one stage cylinder or a multistage cylinder which is folded with a telescope type. A low noise amplifier is electrically connected to the antenna unit and amplifies a signal received from the antenna unit. A USB terminal supports an antenna, transmits and receives a signal of an antenna through a USB port, and transmits the received power to the low noise amplifier. A folding unit(150) is formed between the antenna unit and the antenna connection unit.

TL;DR: In this article, a high efficiency class AB power amplifier integrated with a modified microstrip patch antenna is reported, where the second and third harmonics are tuned to obtain high efficiency operation.
Abstract: A high efficiency class AB power amplifier integrated with a modified microstrip patch antenna is reported. The second and third harmonics are tuned to obtain high efficiency operation The second harmonic is shaped through the input impedance of the patch antenna and third is tuned using a microstrip line with the periodically etched ground plane. A power-added efficiency of 61% is demonstrated at the operating frequency of 2.45GHz.

TL;DR: In this article, 1 × 1, 1 × 2 and 1 × 4 antenna arrays with a single varactor-tuned HEMT VCO as an active source have been demonstrated.
Abstract: X-band active beam-scanning leaky-wave antenna arrays, including 1 × 1,1 × 2 and 1 × 4 prototypes, have been demonstrated. These antennas integrated one or several microstrip leaky-wave antenna elements with a single varactor-tuned HEMT VCO as an active source. Measured results on experimental antennas indicate that the beam scanning angle of the 1 × 1 antenna close to 40° can be achieved and the scanning range of 1 × 2 and 1 × 4 antenna arrays are both close to 32°. Furthermore, reflected wave due to the open end of each leaky-wave antenna element has been suppressed by the symmetric configuration of this antenna array and the antenna efficiency increases. When comparing with the measured radiation pattern of the single element antenna, we found that the 1 × 2 and 1 × 4 antenna arrays can effectively suppress the reflected power by more than 5.5 dB and 10.5 dB, respectively, at 10.2GHz. The power gain are more than 2 dB and 3.16 dB higher than the single element antenna with a measured EIRP of 18.67 dBm.
