TL;DR: In this article, a radio base station (12) transforms a precoded data signal using a transformation, which transformation directs signals vertically, and transmits the transformed data signal over at least one sub element to the user equipment (10 ).
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method in a radio base station ( 12 ) for transmitting a data signal to a user equipment ( 10 ) in a radio communications network. The radio base station ( 12 ) is connected to an active antenna array of a number of active transmitting antennas and the radio base station ( 12 ) serves the user equipment ( 10 ) in the radio communications network. Each active transmitting antenna comprises sub elements. The radio base station ( 12 ) transforms a precoded data signal using a transformation, which transformation directs signals vertically. Furthermore, the radio base station ( 12 ) transmits the transformed data signal over at least one sub element to the user equipment ( 10 ). The transmitted data signal is enabled to be directed vertically, and the transformed data signal is limited to be transmitted in a direction within a range of elevation angles.

TL;DR: In this paper, a direction finding antenna system with a large circle of active reflector antenna elements and a smaller concentric circle of focal point active antenna elements is proposed. But the system is not suitable for the use of directional antennas.
Abstract: A direction finding antenna system having a large circle of active reflector antenna elements and a smaller concentric circle of focal point active antenna elements The outer circle consists of several hundred antenna elements where each element comprises a horizontal one-half wave length horizontal dipole and a onefourth wave length vertical dipole The horizontal dipole receives the incoming signal the output of which is amplified and applied to the input of the vertical dipole which then retransmits the signal A group of reflector antenna elements forming a segment of the outer circle receive and retransmit the incoming signal to a focal point where the signal is received by a focal point antenna on the inner circle The signal from the focal point antenna receiving the retransmitted signal thus represents the output of a directional antenna A display of signal arrival direction is obtained from the output of the focal point antennas

TL;DR: An on-line diagnostic system design for active antenna transmit channels is presented, based on cheap gain and phase solid-state meters integrated with the transmit channels, for amplitude and phase pulse measurements during real transmit pulse.
Abstract: In this paper, an on-line diagnostic system design for active antenna transmit channels is presented. The system is based on cheap gain and phase solid-state meters, integrated with the transmit channels, for amplitude and phase pulse measurements during real transmit pulse. The measurement data analysis by comparison with the calibration data, at the level of a single detector is performed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed an active antenna capable of transmitting/receiving low frequency band radio signals, which can not only reduce in its size but also miniaturize mobile communication terminals, and provide a mobile communication terminal having the antenna.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active antenna capable of transmitting/receiving low frequency band radio signals, which can not only be drastically reduced in its size but also miniaturize mobile communication terminals, and to provide a mobile communication terminal having the antenna. SOLUTION: With relation to an active antenna capable of transmitting/receiving low frequency band radio signals and a mobile communication terminal having the antenna, the active antenna includes an antenna element which transmits/receives radio signals, a filter which filters radio signals received by the antenna element so as to output radio signals belonging to a frequency band lower than operation frequency of the antenna element, and an amplifier which amplifies the radio signals which have filtered by the filter. TL;DR: In this article, an antenna system for use with a media device is described, which includes a multi-mode active antenna configurable to operate in a plurality of modes, each mode of the plurality of has a distinct radiation pattern.
Abstract: An antenna system for use with a media device is provided. The antenna system includes a multi-mode active antenna configurable to operate in a plurality of modes. Each mode of the plurality of has a distinct radiation pattern. The antenna system includes a supplemental tuner that is separate from a primary tuner associated with the media device. The antenna system includes a switching device movable between at least two positions to selectively couple the active antenna to the supplemental tuner. When the switching device is in a first position, the active antenna is coupled to the supplemental tuner. When the switching device is in a second position, the active antenna is coupled to the media device.
