TL;DR: There are no significant benefits to lowering the mode-sets or deploying dynamic codec rate adaptation, and controlled laboratory experiments indicated that there was an improvement in voice quality when mode-set eight was employed.
Abstract: In this paper, we examine the impact of four voice over long term evolution adaptive multi-rate wideband codec mode-sets on coverage at pedestrian and vehicular speeds Industry-standardized mean opinion scores were used as a metric for voice quality Controlled laboratory experiments simulating pedestrian speeds indicated that there was an improvement in voice quality when mode-set eight was employed At vehicular speeds, mode-set eight outperformed the other mode-sets for path losses less than 130 dB; however, all four mode-sets experienced a significant decline in voice quality when the path loss was greater than 130 dB Based on the current implementations, there are no significant benefits to lowering the mode-sets or deploying dynamic codec rate adaptation

TL;DR: Experimental results show that the performance of the MPEG‐4 video codec based on the on‐chip network is improved over 50% compared to the design based on a multi‐layer AMBA bus.
Abstract: In this paper, we present a performance analysis for an MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network communication architecture. The existing on-chip buses of system-on-a-chip (SoC) have some limitation on data traffic bandwidth since a large number of silicon IPs share the bus. An on-chip network is introduced to solve the problem of on-chip buses, in which the concept of a computer network is applied to the communication architecture of SoC. We compared the performance of the MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network and Advanced Micro-controller Bus Architecture (AMBA) on-chip bus. Experimental results show that the performance of the MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network is improved over 50% compared to the design based on a multi-layer AMBA bus.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for parametric spatial audio coding of a multi-channel audio signal comprising a plurality of audio channel signals is provided, the method comprising: calculating at least two different spatial coding parameters for an audio channel signal of the plurality of radio channel signals, selecting at least one spatial coding parameter of the at least three different spatial encoding parameters associated with the audio channels, and setting a parameter type flag in the parameter section of the audio bitstream indicating the type of the selected spatial encoding parameter being included into the audio bitsstream.
Abstract: A method for parametric spatial audio coding of a multi-channel audio signal comprising a plurality of audio channel signals is provided, the method comprising: calculating at least two different spatial coding parameters for an audio channel signal of the plurality of audio channel signals, selecting at least one spatial coding parameter of the at least two different spatial coding parameters associated with the audio channel signal on the basis of the values of the calculated spatial coding parameters; including a quantized representation of the selected spatial coding parameter into a parameter section of an audio bitstream; and setting a parameter type flag in the parameter section of the audio bitstream indicating the type of the selected spatial coding parameter being included into the audio bitstream.
