TL;DR: In this article, it was shown how both particle states and Schwarzschild de Sitter black holes can arise as excitations in a theory of a finite number of fermionic oscillators.
Abstract: We describe progress towards constructing a quantum theory of de Sitter space in four dimensions. In particular we indicate how both particle states and Schwarzschild de Sitter black holes can arise as excitations in a theory of a finite number of fermionic oscillators. The results about particle states depend on a conjecture about algebras of Grassmann variables, which we state, but do not prove.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the thermodynamics and thermodynamic geometry of a five-dimensional Schwarzschild AdS black hole in AdS 5 × S 5 spacetime by treating the cosmological constant as the number of colors in the boundary gauge theory and its conjugate quantity as the associated chemical potential.

5 spacetime by treating the cosmological constant as the number of colors in the boundary gauge theory and its conjugate quantity as the associated chemical potential. It is found that the chemical potential is always negative in the stable branch of black hole thermodynamics and it has a chance to be positive, but appears in the unstable branch. We calculate the scalar curvatures of the thermodynamical Weinhold metric, Ruppeiner metric and Quevedo metric, respectively and we find that the scalar curvature in the Weinhold metric is always vanishing, while in the Ruppeiner metric the divergence of the scalar curvature is related to the divergence of the heat capacity with fixed chemical potential, and in the Quevedo metric the divergence of the scalar curvature is related to the divergence of the heat capacity with fixed number of colors and to the vanishing of the heat capacity with fixed chemical potential.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the thermal properties of the O(N) vector-like scalar theory in the singlet sector in 2+1 dimensions, which is conjectured to be the AdS/CFT dual of Vasiliev higher spin gravity.
Abstract: We study the thermal properties of the O(N) vector-like scalar theory in the singlet sector in 2+1 dimensions. This theory is conjectured to be the AdS/CFT dual of Vasiliev higher spin gravity. We find that a large N transition occurs but only at a very high temperature of order √ N. This corresponds to the bulk Planck energy. The transition signals a decrease in the number of degrees of freedom from that expected in the simple higher spin gas, due to relations among the O(N) bilinear invariants.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied supergravity backgrounds encoded through the gauge/string correspondence by the SU(n) × SU(N) theory arising on N D3-branes on the conifold.
Abstract: We study supergravity backgrounds encoded through the gauge/string correspondence by the SU(N) × SU(N) theory arising on N D3-branes on the conifold. As discussed in hep-th/9905104, the dynamics of this theory describes warped versions of both the singular and the resolved conifolds through different (symmetry breaking) vacua. We construct these supergravity solutions explicitly and match them with the gauge theory with different sets of vacuum expectation values of the bi-fundamental fields A1,A2,B1,B2. For the resolved conifold, we find a non-singular SU(2) × U(1) × U(1) symmetric warped solution produced by a stack of D3-branes localized at a point on the blown-up 2-sphere. It describes a smooth RG flow from AdS5 × T1,1 in the UV to AdS5 × S5 in the IR, produced by giving a VEV to just one field, e.g. B2. The presence of a condensate of baryonic operator detB2 is confirmed using a Euclidean D3-brane wrapping a 4-cycle inside the resolved conifold. The Green's functions on the singular and resolved conifolds are central to our calculations and are discussed in some detail.
