TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied long wavelength perturbations of neutral black p-branes in asymptotically flat space and showed that solutions of the relativistic hydrodynamic equations for an effective p + 1-dimensional fluid yield solutions to the vacuum Einstein equations in a derivative expansion.
Abstract: We study long wavelength perturbations of neutral black p-branes in asymptotically flat space and show that, as anticipated in the blackfold approach, solutions of the relativistic hydrodynamic equations for an effective p + 1-dimensional fluid yield solutions to the vacuum Einstein equations in a derivative expansion. Going beyond the perfect fluid approximation, we compute the effective shear and bulk viscosities of the black brane. The values we obtain saturate generic bounds. Sound waves in the effective fluid are unstable, and have been previously related to the Gregory-Laflamme instability of black p-branes. By including the damping effect of the viscosity in the unstable sound waves, we obtain a remarkably good and simple approximation to the dispersion relation of the Gregory-Laflamme modes, whose accuracy increases with the number of transverse dimensions. We propose an exact limiting form as the number of dimensions tends to infinity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the chiral anomaly for symmetry currents in 2D conformal field theories (CFT) completely determines their correlators, and the important exception is a CFT with a gauge theory to which we may couple an external current, as in the probe D3/D3 system or the putative dual to the charged BTZ black hole.
Abstract: I clarify some recent confusion regarding the holographic description of finite-density systems in two dimensions. Notably, the chiral anomaly for symmetry currents in 2d conformal field theories (CFT) completely determines their correlators. The important exception is a CFT with a gauge theory to which we may couple an external current, as in the probe D3/D3 system or the putative dual to the charged BTZ black hole. These systems are analyzed with an eye for potential condensed matter applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived the universal total twist of two particles at a large angular momentum from the pole structure of the fusion matrix and applied it to the light cone bootstrap.
Abstract: The light cone OPE limit provides a significant amount of information regarding the conformal field theory (CFT), like the high-low temperature limit of the partition function. We started with the light cone bootstrap in the general CFT 2 with c > 1. For this purpose, we needed an explicit asymptotic form of the Virasoro conformal blocks in the limit z → 1, which was unknown until now. In this study, we computed it in general by studying the pole structure of the fusion matrix (or the crossing kernel). Applying this result to the light cone bootstrap, we obtained the universal total twist (or equivalently, the universal binding energy) of two particles at a large angular momentum. In particular, we found that the total twist is saturated by the value $$ \frac{c-1}{12} $$ if the total Liouville momentum exceeds beyond the BTZ threshold. This might be interpreted as a black hole formation in AdS3. As another application of our light cone singularity, we studied the dynamics of entanglement after a global quench and found a Renyi phase transition as the replica number was varied. We also investigated the dynamics of the 2nd Renyi entropy after a local quench. We also provide a universal form of the Regge limit of the Virasoro conformal blocks from the analysis of the light cone singularity. This Regge limit is related to the general n-th Renyi entropy after a local quench and out of time ordered correlators.

TL;DR: It is shown that in a broad class of models quantum corrections yield values of η / s just above the KSS bound, however, incorporating matter fields in the fundamental representation typically leads to violations of this bound.

TL;DR: A large class of unimodular nonabelian homogeneous Yang-Baxter deformations of the AdS 5 × S 5 superstring can be realized as sequences of noncommuting TsT transformations.
