TL;DR: The exposures of concern to Service members returning from military service in the current and recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq are reviewed.
Abstract: There is a long history of Veterans returning from war with concerns regarding environmental hazards that they may have experienced while in theater. The author describes some of the tools in place within the Department of Defense to capture the frequency and nature of exposure concerns of returning troops. This article then reviews the exposures of concern to Service members returning from military service in the current and recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The author then presents some of the recent published literature on these concerns. To address these exposure concerns of Veterans, there is then a brief discussion of a new program being put in place at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

TL;DR: In this article, the author describes his experiences while deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 as part of the special Operations surgical team and Orthopaedic care of injured Afghan civilians represents a common secondary mission performed by deployed orthopaedics surgeons.
Abstract: Orthopaedic surgeons deployed to Afghanistan are primarily responsible for the provision of care to injured Us and coalition soldiers. A vast and well-coordinated system of echeloned care has evolved to rapidly treat and evacuate injured soldiers. Orthopaedic care of injured Afghan civilians represents a common secondary mission performed by deployed orthopaedic surgeons. In this article, I describe my experiences while deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 as part of the special Operations surgical team.

TL;DR: A very front medical presence, which is systematic during evacuations, is a feature of the French Army Health Service operations support.
Abstract: Recent conflicts have led the French Army Health Service to specify the setting condition for the survival of combat casualties in overseas operations. The majority of them are victims of explosion injuries, and an early and effective control of bleeding is the primary means of improving survival. A procedure called "Combat Rescue" is taught. This chronological procedure favours external haemostasis and led to specific equipment, in particular a tourniquet and a haemostatic bandage of high efficiency. It is applied in recent years on the Afghan out-of-hospital theatre. A very front medical presence, which is systematic during evacuations, is a feature of the French Army Health Service operations support.
