TL;DR: In this paper, the transient behavior of an oxygen mixed conducting membrane (OMCM)-based gas turbine (GT) power plant is investigated for part-load operation and two strategies are analyzed: (i) reduction in mass flow of air to the GT in conjunction with reduced fuel supply to the afterburner while keeping the turbine exit temperature (TET) constant (TTE control strategy), and (ii) reduction of fuel supply at constant air supply to GT while the TET is allowed to vary (turbine inlet temperature (TIT) control strategy).

TL;DR: In this paper, a pre-evaporation type integrated afterburner is proposed, where an oil cavity is formed inside an after-burning inner cone, and is connected with a fuel oil channel inside a rectification support plate flame stabilizer.
Abstract: The invention provides a pre-evaporation type integrated afterburner. An oil cavity is formed inside an afterburning inner cone, and is connected with a fuel oil channel inside a rectification support plate flame stabilizer. Fuel oil is heated in the oil cavity to become gas or a supercritical body, and then the gas or the supercritical body enters the fuel oil channel inside the rectification support plate flame stabilizer and is sprayed out from direct-injection type spraying nozzle small holes in the two sides. The spraying nozzle small holes are reasonably formed so that the mixing effect of the fuel oil and the gas can be effectively improved, and the burning efficiency is improved. In addition, a large amount of heat is transmitted to the fuel oil through the afterburning inner cone, so that the self temperature is decreased, and the infrared stealth performance is effectively improved. The pre-evaporation type integrated afterburner has the beneficial effects that on the basis of an integrated afterburner structure, by reasonably leading in the structure of the oil cavity inside the afterburning inner cone and the structure of the fuel oil channel inside the rectification support plate flame stabilizer and reasonably forming the direct-injection type spraying nozzle small holes, the burning efficiency is effectively improved, and the infrared stealth performance is effectively improved.

TL;DR: In this paper, an annular or ring-type cylinder and piston was constructed to operate operatively with an output shaft as through the use of only a single crank, single connecting rod and wrist pin.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an annular or ring-type cylinder and piston therein; exhaust ports from the cylinder lead to an afterburner reactor situated generally medially of the annular cylinder; the exhaust gases are further burned within the afterburner section; to further reduce pollutants during the afterburning process, additional air is pumped into the afterburner section as by the ring piston due to its special configuration enabling it to accomplish, for example, triple functions such as: (a) to act as a power transmitting means, (b) to act as a pumping means to supply the engine's combustion chamber with scavenging air and/or an air-fuel mixture, and (c) to act as an air pumping means to supply desired quantities of ambient air into the afterburner section even in timed intervals with a constant predetermined pressure and predetermined quantities in order to thereby maximize the degree of control of the temperature generated in the afterburner and thereby more nearly fully oxidize the unburned fuel residues entering the afterburner. The ring piston is so constructed that it can be operatively connected to an output shaft as through the use of only a single crank, single connecting rod and wrist pin. Further, to extract a considerable amount of energy from the waste exhaust gases leaving the afterburner, a power turbine is provided which is within the exit path of the exhaust gases. The power turbine is conveniently incorporated as into the engine head and the turbine output shaft is either geared by reduction gear means to work in unison with the output crank shaft, or the turbine shaft rotates at an independent speed and is geared to drive (some or all of) the engine and/or vehicular accessories.

TL;DR: In this paper, temperature and stable species concentration data are presented from the kiln exit, transition section and afterburner of a full-scale incinerator facility firing natural gas/carbon tetrachloride/air.
Abstract: Detailed temperature and stable species concentration data are presented from the kiln exit, transition section and afterburner of a full-scale incinerator facility firing natural gas/carbon tetrachloride/air. The data are collected as part of a cooperative program involving university, industry and government participation. The overall goal of the program is to develop an understanding and predictive capability for rotary kiln and afterburner performance as influenced by basic design and operational parameters. The data demonstrate that nonuniformities in stable species and temperature exist, under certain operating conditions, at the kiln exit in the vertical direction only. Measurements from the transition section indicate that non-uniformities may exist within this region under certain operating conditions. Flow perturbations from within the kiln can persist into the afterburner, although the degree of nonuniformity is substantially reduced compared to either the kiln or transition sections.
