Abstract: The research objective were to analyze the vegetation of orchid habitat and to determine orchids species around Tambing Lake, Lore Lindu National Park area, Sedoa village, Lore Utara district, Poso regency, Central Sulawesi. The study employed survey method. The vegetation was recorded in 20m x 20m plots by using purposive sampling methods in orchid habitat. The collected data include all plant species and growth level swithin the sampling plot. The total observation area was 0,16 ha. The results showed that the total number of tree level of plant species recorded was 38 species comprising 9 families with the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) was 61,62%. The total number of pole level of plant species recorded was 34 species comprising 7 families with the highest IVI was 74, 43%. The total number of sapling level of plant species recorded was 37 species comprising 9 families with the highest IVI was 65,41%. Hence, The total number of seedling level of plant species recorded was 31 species comprising 7 families with the highest IVI was 49,34%. The highest IVI at all growth levels was achieved by Kaha ( Castanopsis accuminatisima ). In addition, there were 12 orchid species comprising 8 genus founded in this area,i.e; Agrostophyllum, Bulbophyllum, Calanthe, Coelogyne, Dendrobium, Dendrochyllum, Eria, and Trichotosia. TL;DR: It was recorded that there were 137 orchid species belonging to 51 genera, 95species of which were epiphytes and 42 other species were terrestrial orchids, the most dominant terrestrial orchid was Plocoglottis javanica.
Abstract: Gunung Simpang Nature Reserve is located in West Java Province. It covers a 15.000 hectare area of highland forest, the altitude range between 800 to 1823 m asl. Orchid inventory and exploration were conducted to study orchid diversity in this conservation areas. Living plant was collected for ex situ conservation purpose in Botanic Garden. Observation on the population of terrestrial and epiphyte orchid was also done to study the dominant orchid in that area. It was recorded that there were 137 orchid species belonging to 51 genera, 95species of which were epiphytes and 42 other species were terrestrial orchids. 134 species of which were collected in Cibodas Botanic Garden, which is suitable place for highland plant. The most dominant terrestrial orchid was Plocoglottis javanica. Other species were also abundantly found, such as Phaius pauciflorus, Liparis rheedii, Diglyphosa latifolia, Neuwiedia zollingeri var. javanica, Calanthe ceciliae, C. speciosa and Phaius callosus. Some epiphyte orchids were very common found, that are Agrostophyllum majus, Coelogyne speciosa, Dendrobium mutabile, Agrostophyllum bicuspidatum, Pholidota ventricosa and Eria javanica. Some attractive orchids are potential for ornamental plant, such as Vanda tricolor, Phaius callosus, Phaius tankervilleae, Arundina graminifolia, Bulbophyllum lobbii, Coelogyne speciosa, Calanthe ceciliae, Calanthe triplicata and Calanthe speciosa.© 2005 Jurusan Biologi FMIPA UNS SurakartaKeywords: orchid, Gunung Simpang Nature Reserve, diversity.

Abstract: To investigate the diversity, distribution, and utilization of orchid, a study was conducted in Bodogol forest of Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGP). Around 82 species of 41 genera of orchids were identified in this area which consisted of 58 species of epiphytes orchids and 24 species of terrestrial orchids. The genera of Agrostophyllum , Dendrobium , and Eria were the most commonly found orchid in this area. Distribution of orchid species varied from India to Pacific islands, including Japan. Among recognized six endemic orchid species of Java island, two new records of orchids at GPNP were determined, i.e. Neuwiedia veratifolia and N. zollinger i var. javanica . In general, the orchids in Bodogol forest have not been economic commodities priority yet, but several species were potential to be developed for utilization.
