Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a grid-based numerical air pollution model for estimating air pollutant concentrations in an urban area is developed based on the continuity equation, which incorporates the combined influences of advective transport, turbulent diffusion, chemical transformation, source emissions and surface removal of air contaminants.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors attempt to summarise the contribution of motor vehicles to the emissions and air quality in terms of the more important air pollutants in the UK and discuss the estimates of UK emissions of primary pollutants and the precursors of secondary pollutants and give an indication of the methods used in their calculation.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the three essential conditions or ingredients for the formation of photochemical smog and involving NO, NO2, unsaturated hydrocarbons, and O3 are discussed.
