TL;DR: In this paper, the development of ducted rocket technology at Bayern-Chemie in Germany during more than 30 years is described and an overview of the main phases of technology development and highlights important achievements.
Abstract: [] After a very short introduction into the history and the business perimeter of Bayern-Chemie, the paper gives an overview of the development of ducted rocket technology at Bayern-Chemie in Germany during more than 30 years. The paper covers main phases of technology development and highlights important achievements. The paper concentrates on hardware design concepts, selected examples of test results and major technical milestones. Based on the advanced state of technology, a contract was awarded to Bayern-Chemie in 2000 for the development and production of the integrated throttleable ducted rocket motor for the European beyond visual range air to air missile Meteor. This propulsion system provides kinematic superiority of Meteor over all existing aircraft weapons and enables continuous optimization of the intercept trajectory by active thrust control. The paper provides a concept overview and a short status of the development of the Meteor propulsion system [1, 2, 3, 4]. The part of the paper dedicated to Meteor will be restricted to unclassified information.

27 Apr 1979TL;DR: In this paper, a simple way to guide a missile in a predetermined tectory from launch to the impacting with a target for optimum warhead penetration of armor by a guided missile is presented.
Abstract: In a missile system, a simple way to guide a missile in a predetermined tectory from launch to the impacting with a target for optimum warhead penetration of armor by a guided missile. Initially, the missile is guided in yaw by proportional navigation. Subsequently it is guided in pitch first by a pitch programmer until the missile reaches a predetermined gimbal angle between a line of sight of a seeker of the missile and a centerline of the missile, then in pitch by a pseudo-time-optimal closed loop controller to direct the missile pitch attitude at a predetermined rate toward a target until said missile reaches another predetermined gimbal angle, and finally by proportional navigation in pitch of the missile to the target.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for providing navigational data required to guide an air-to-air missile to a target is presented, where the trajectory of the target is predicted on the basis of a series of location measurements.
Abstract: A method and system for providing navigational data required to guide an air-to-air missile to a target. The missile is equipped either with an infrared seeking sensor or a radar system. The trajectory of the target is predicted on the basis of a series of location measurements. A flight path of the missile is predicted such that the missile will intercept the target. Based on the predicted missile flight path, signals corresponding to the required rotational angle of the missile's sensor or radar antenna are generated and supplied to the sensor or radar's rotation control unit to cause the missile to move along the predicted flight path.
