TL;DR: In this paper, 1, 2, 3-tri-O-acetyl-4, 6- O -benzyl-idehe-β-D-giucopyranose (4α β) and 4α,β were subjected to the cyclization reaction using Lewis acids ( SnCl4 and BF3-etherate), to give corresponding 1, 6 anhydro derivatives.

TL;DR: In this article, the cyclic thionocarbonates give O, S-rearrangement products, the thiolcabonates, in appreciable yields, when treated with a catalytic amount of tributyltin hydride and α, α-azobisisobutyronitrile.
Abstract: The cyclic thionocarbonates give O, S-rearrangement products, the thiolcabonates, in appreciable yields, when treated with a catalytic amount of tributyltin hydride and α, α-azobisisobutyronitrile. This reaction opens a new route to regioselective preparation of thio-sugars under very mild conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the u.v. light of a methanolic solution of β-D-glucopyranosyl (1), α -D-mannopyranoyl (3), or β −D-galactopyraniayl (4) azide affords in good yield the corresponding next-lower aldose.
Abstract: Irradiation with u.v. light of a methanolic solution of β-D-glucopyranosyl (1), α-D-mannopyranosyl (3), or β-D-galactopyranosyl (4) azide affords in good yield the corresponding next-lower aldose. In the case of β-maltosyl (6), β-D-ribofuranosyl (7), or α-L-arabinopyranosyl (8) azide, there was observed the formation of an intermediate which, on standing in the dark, reverts back to starting material.
