TL;DR: In this paper, a process for removing organic material from the Bayer process is described, where bauxite is digested in sodium hydroxide to form a solution of sodium aluminate, aluminium hydroxides is precipitated from the solution and calcined to form alumina, characterized by any of the process liquors is treated with manganese dioxide to oxidize the organic material.
Abstract: A process for removing organic material from the Bayer process wherein, (a) bauxite is digested in sodium hydroxide to form a solution of sodium aluminate (b) aluminium hydroxide is precipitated from the solution and (c) is calcined to form alumina, characterized in that any of the process liquors is treated with manganese dioxide to oxidize the organic material. In particular oxalate can be removed from the seed wash liquor by oxidation with manganese dioxide in a fluid bed reactor.

TL;DR: The ratio of aluminium hydroxide (expressed as equivalent aluminium oxide) to ibuprofen may be in the range 1:50 to 5:1 parts by weight.
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition for oral administration comprising a mixture of ibuprofen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and aluminium hydroxide, the amount of aluminium hydroxide being sufficient to mask the bitter taste of the ibuprofen, or the salt thereof which would be evident in the absence of aluminium hydroxide. The ratio of aluminium hydroxide (expressed as equivalent aluminium oxide) to ibuprofen may be in the range 1:50 to 5:1 parts by weight.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of adding anhydrite and gypsum to ordinary Portland cement composites was investigated and the results showed that adding the sulphate salts significantly changed the composition and microstructure of the bulk cement and the aluminium corrosion layer with ettringite the main phase detected.
Abstract: The highly alkaline pore solution of ordinary Portland cement composites currently used by the nuclear waste immobilisation industry causes corrosion of encapsulated reactive metals which generates hydrogen, causes loss of wasteform integrity and may release radioactive material to the environment. This work has investigated using near neutral salts as additives to composite cement powders in order to develop less alkaline cement pastes and reduce the corrosion of reactive metals. The effect of adding anhydrite and gypsum to ordinary Portland cement partially replaced by blast furnace slag or pulverised fuel ash was investigated. Adding the sulphate salts significantly changed the composition and microstructure of the bulk cement and the aluminium corrosion layer with ettringite the main phase detected. The amount of aluminium hydroxide formed during corrosion was significantly reduced by adding the sulphate salts as was the rate of hydrogen generation.

TL;DR: In this article, the carbon component decomposition is carried out in the protruded packing layer inside the rotating bed and is one powerful mass transfer and micro mixing process, and the aluminum hydroxide sol obtained through the subsequent hydrothermal treatment process is further converted into crystal grains.
Abstract: The preparation includes two steps of carbon component decomposition and hydrothermal treatment in rotating bed in ultragravity condition. The carbon component decomposition of the present invention is carried out in the protruded packing layer inside the rotating bed and is one powerful mass transfer and micro mixing process, and the aluminum hydroxide sol obtained through the subsequent hydrothermal treatment process is further converted into crystal grains. The present invention can produce fibrous aluminum hydroxide grains with average size as small as 1-5 mm, length-to-diameter ratio of 5-100 and homogeneously distributed size and has high production efficiency and product grade. The method of the present invention is easy to be used in industry.
