Abstract: This invention relates to a method for preparing flame-retardant-grde ultrafine aluminum oxide and increasing its original water-loss temperature of heat decomposition. The flame-retardant-grde ultrafine aluminum oxide is prepared from purified sodium aluminate solution by two or more stages. The crystal seeds for aluminum hydroxide ultrafine powder are prepared by reacting aluminum salt with ammonium salt, or reacting sodium aluminate solution with carbonate. The modifier for increasing the original water-loss temperature of ultrafine aluminum oxide heat decomposition is one of monoammonium phosphate, monoammonium phosphate/glycerol and monoammonium phosphate/oxalic acid. The modified aluminum oxide has the original water-loss temperature higher than 205 deg.C, thus can be used as a flame retardant. The method has simple process and is suitable for mass production.

Abstract: The method discloses a method for removing sodium oxalate in an industrial sodium aluminate solution, which is in particular suitable for removing impurity sodium oxalate in the sodium aluminate solution in the process of producing alumina in a Bayer process. The method comprises the following steps that: a decomposition mother solution is evaporated, condensed and cooled; aluminium hydroxide is added as an inoculating seed in order that a sodium oxalate crystallinesubstance in the decomposition mother solution is separated out and filtered; and the crystallinesubstance is separated, thereby removing the sodium oxalate in the sodium aluminate solution. Through the treatment by the method, the sodium oxalate concentration in the sodium aluminate solution is reduced; the method reduces the influence of the sodium oxalate on the production process, makes for the smoothness of the production in the Bayer process and has marked effect, simple process and good industrial application prospect.

The modified aluminium hydroxide prepared by the method has good thermal stability and high decomposition temperature, can improve the mechanical property and flame retardant property of the composite materials and has simple process.
