Abstract: The effect of several variables such as the type of binder and additive, the temperature, time, furnace atmosphere, particle size and forming pressure, on the strength of chemically bonded SiC specimens was studied. It was shown that the highest compressive strength (43·67 MPa at 500°C) can be obtained by using optimum amounts of orthophosphoric acid and aluminium hydroxide as binder and additive respectively. Various stages in the structural development were followed by DTA, XRD and SEM/EDX analysis. It was shown that by using aluminium hydroxide and kaolin additives, phosphate bonding could be preserved at the specimen surfaces up to 1450°C. ©

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing high purity potassium carbonate and high purity aluminium hydroxide through Baiyun ebo potash feldspar concentrate, and belongs to the field of hydrometallurgy. According to the present invention, the potash feldspar concentrate is adopted as a raw material, wherein the potash feldspar concentrate is sorted from the Baiyun ebo potassium-rich slate, and has the purity more than 95%; the new process adopts lime sintering and stepwise leaching method for preparing the high purity potassium carbonate and the high purity aluminium hydroxide. The purity of the potassium carbonate is more than 99%, the recovery rate of the potassium carbonate is more than 90%; the aluminium hydroxide meets the state grade 1 standard, and the recovery rate of the aluminium hydroxide is more than 85%; the process provided by the present invention is simple, the method is applicable for the industrial production, and good economic benefits are provided.

Abstract: Aluminum hydroxide was prepared by solventing-out method using methanol and water in the decomposition of sodium aluminate.The solubility of Al2O3 and Na2O in methanol?water solvent with different mass ratios of methanol was investigated at 30℃.In addition,the effects of mass ratio of methanol and reaction temperature on decomposition process of sodium aluminate hydrate were studied,and the obtained product was characterized by XRD,IR,SEM techniques,particle size distribution and purity analysis.The results showed that the solubility of Al2O3 and Na2O decreased with the increase of methanol mass ratio to solvent,its effect on solubility of Al2O3 was more remarkable,increasing the molar ratio of sodium aluminate significantly up to a peak value when the mass ratio of methanol was 0.8.The decomposition rate of sodium aluminate hydrate reached to 80%~90%in 1~3 h when the mass ratios of methanol to solvent were 0.5~0.8,while the rate would slightly decrease with the increase of temperature.The product was identified as bayerite with integrated IR peaks at 30℃,and it transformed to gibbsite when the temperature was higher.The prepared aluminum hydroxide consisted of pure and uniform tabular particulates with average 100 nm in thickness and 1μm in diameter.

Its advantages include simple process, high output, low energy consumption, high purity and whiteness, and low content of ferric oxide, water and alkali.
