TL;DR: Clinicians need to be aware of the prevalence of hydatid disease and the recent advances on its treatment, and are advised to select patients suitable for surgery on the basis of prior history and once they provide informed consent for surgery.
Abstract: Hydatid disease, also known as echinococcosis or hydatidosis, is caused by infection with larva (metacestode) of the tapeworms of the genus Echinococcus. Within the genus Echinococcus, four species are recognized: E. granulosus which causes cystic hydatid disease; E. multilocularis which causes alveolar hydatid disease; E. vogeli and E. oligarthrus both of which cause polycystic hydatid disease (Table 1).1,2 Hydatid disease is a public health problem in Asia, the Mediterranean, South America and Africa. With immigration, the prevalence of the disease has increased in Europe and North America in recent years.3-8 There has been considerable recent progress in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of hydatid disease.2,9,10 Drug therapy and percutaneous aspiration have been successfully used to treat hydatid disease, and long-term results have been encouraging. In view of the above, clinicians need to be aware of the prevalence of hydatid disease and the recent advances on its treatment.

TL;DR: The case of a 37 year old woman admitted to the gastroenterology department with obstructive jaundice and then diagnosed as alveolar hydatid cyst with lung metastasis is presented due to its rare prevalence.
Abstract: Alveolar hydatid disease is a serious and often fatal condition caused by infection with the metacestode form of echinococcus multilocularis. Liver involvement is seen in 90% of the cases. The parasite develops within the liver as a rapid invasive pseudomalignant growth and may make distant metastasis. We present the case of a 37 year old woman admitted to our gastroenterology department with obstructive jaundice and then diagnosed as alveolar hydatid cyst with lung metastasis. This case is presented due to its rare prevalence.

TL;DR: There are notable relevances exist in hydatis infection between sex and age in crowd in Xiji county.
Abstract: Objectives To find out the infectious condition of crowd in Xiji county, and make them receive treatment timely.Method Exam 156 persons' vein blood with immune gold-marked reagent-box.Results Positive rate of these two types of hydatid disease is 30.13% in which that of the hydatid disease is 26.28%, the alveolar hydatid disease is 12.82%.The positive rate of the male and female is 10.20% and 21.79% respectively, the differences between them are notable (χ 2=3.92,P0.05).The positive rate of the adults and teenages are 37.23% and 19.35% respectively, there are notable differences between them( χ 2=4.86, P0.05). Conclusion There are notable relevances exist in hydatis infection between sex and age.

TL;DR: A patient who complained of chest pain and hemoptysis and his lung CT scan suggested solid tumor was found to have alveolar diseae which responded to albendazole medical therapy.
Abstract: Hydatidsis is a zoonosis transmitted by domestic and wild animals. Two distinct clinical presentations are as followes: unilocular of cystic hydatid disease and the more malignant form, called alveolar hydatid disease. This case report presents a patient who complained of chest pain and hemoptysis and his lung CT scan suggested solid tumor. He was found to have alveolar diseae which responded to albendazole medical therapy
