TL;DR: The use of physicochemical methods notably reduced the incidence of postoperative pyoinflammatory complications, incompetence of intestinal anastomosis sutures, and animal mortality.
Abstract: Strangulation colorectal obstruction was modeled in 60 Wistar rats. Necrotic segment of the intestine was resected under conditions of peritonitis and end-to-end intestinal anastomosis was performed on a PCV catheter conducted through the anus. Sodium hypochlorite and ozone solution were used for sanitation of the abdominal cavity and intestinal lavage, and the intestinal anastomosis was coated with Ozonide (ozonized oil). The use of physicochemical methods notably reduced the incidence of postoperative pyoinflammatory complications, incompetence of intestinal anastomosis sutures, and animal mortality.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors established a toxicological profile for FPGE by testing genotoxicity, acute and 13-week subchronic toxicity, in SD rats, at doses of 0, 750, 1500, and 3000 mg/kg.

TL;DR: The results suggested that Kupffer cells, TNF-α and TLR-4 play central mediator roles during the hepatoprotection against PEA-induced hepatotoxicity conferred by LPS.
Abstract: Context: Liver injury can be induced by various hepatotoxicants, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A (PEA). Our previous study indicated that PEA-induced rat hepatotoxicity was T cells and Kupffer cells dependent. Several reports have demonstrated that non-toxic doses of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can protect liver against the chemicals-induced toxicity such as acetaminophen and concanavalin-A.Objective: This study aimed to investigate the protecting mechanisms of LPS on PEA-induced hepatotoxicity. Results: Rats pretreated with LPS (40 μg/kg, 12 h before PEA admission) significantly decreased animal mortality, serum enzyme (ALT, AST and T-bil) activities, histopathological changes and hepatocytes apoptosis following challenge with PEA. The concentrations of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) were reduced, but IL-6 and IL-10 were increased in the serum. In addition, prior treatment of these LPS-pretreated rats with gadolinium chlori...

TL;DR: Bacterial and animal mortality were closely related after day 15 but not before that time, and mercury concentration in animals was always higher than in the external medium and was measured by a concentration factor.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that GIDIFN has immunopotentiating effects on the host's immune response and provided direct evidence for the utility of IFN-γ-expressing attenuated Salmonella in enhancement of immune responsiveness in immunodeficient hosts.
