TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the properties of a free and a hindered methyl rotator, primarily by algebraic and symmetry methods, and found that the full theory is not as simple as that usually given, and that there are some differences in the results, which throw new light on methyl rotation.
Abstract: For some time it has not been clear that the standard theory of methyl group rotation in a plane takes full account of the antisymmetry requirement imposed by protons. This paper examines the properties of a free and a hindered methyl rotator, primarily by algebraic and symmetry methods. It is found that the full theory is not as simple as that usually given, and that there are some differences in the results, which throw new light on methyl rotation.

TL;DR: Antisymmetry and orthogonality effects in single-particle models of (γ, p) reactions are formally discussed and numerical calculations for the reaction16O(γ,p)15N are presented.
