TL;DR: In this paper, two limonoids with an unprecedented 7/6/5 tricyclic skeleton (1) and 2,6-dioxabicyclo[3.2]nonan-3-one caged ring A system, along with eight other new ones (3,10) were obtained from Aphanamixis polystachya and Aphanamaixis sinensis, and the structure of 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic diffraction.
Abstract: The spatially close and highly reactive ester appendages through the opening of A and B rings of prieurianin-type limonoids would further rearrange into diverse ring system via oxygen-bridges or new C–C bonds. In our current research, two limonoids with an unprecedented 7/6/5 tricyclic skeleton (1) and 2,6-dioxabicyclo[3.2.2]nonan-3-one caged ring A system (2), along with eight other new ones (3–10) were obtained from Aphanamixis polystachya and Aphanamixis sinensis, and the structure of 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic diffraction. Meanwhile, a reliable solution based on biomimetic alkaline hydrolysis to build new oxygen-bridges via OH-1 was established to resolve the difficulties in the structural elucidation of prieurianin limonoids with broad or missing NMR signals and applied for the determination of 9 and 10. Moreover, the potential of Dieckmann reaction as a key biosynthetic step in the formation of C-3/C-6 bonds in the aphanamolide-type backbone was verified by chemical conversions of 13–16. These findings provided new ideas and perspectives for structural elucidation and chemical communication of prieurianin-type limonoids.

TL;DR: Non-vascular, 8–20 teeth-like structures are formed from staminal tube and are interpreted as fused or interpetiolar stipules in Swietenia and Dysoxylum.
Abstract: The floral anatomy ofSwietenia mahogoni Jacq.,Soymida febrifuga Juss.,Chukrassia valutino A. Juss.,Dysoxylum binectariferum Hook.,Aphanamixis rohituka W. & A. andHeynea trijuga Roxb. are discussed. Calyx is supplied by two whorls of traces inSwietenia, Aphanamixis, Chukrassia andHeynea and only one whorl of traces inSoymida andDysoxylum. In all the species, exceptHeynea, petals receive their supply independently. InHeynea petals receive their supply from compound strands. Staminal tube receives its supply from compound strands inSwietenia,Chukrassia, Heynea, Aphanamixis and from independent strands inSoymida andDysoxylum. Anthers are syngenesious inDysoxylum.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe 5-lipoxygenase inhibitory extracts or bio-enriched extracts or fractions of Aphanamixis polystachya, methods of making 5 -lipoxoxygenases inhibitory extract, and methods of treating and/or preventing disease conditions mediated by 5lipoxogenase by using the said extract.
Abstract: The invention discloses 5 -lipoxygenase inhibitory product prepared from botanical sources. More specifically, the invention describes 5 -lipoxygenase inhibitory extracts or bio-enriched extracts or fractions of Aphanamixis polystachya, methods of making 5 -lipoxygenase inhibitory extract, and methods of treating and/or preventing disease conditions mediated by 5 -lipoxygenase by using the said extract. The invention further discloses pharmaceutical or nutraceutical or dietary compositions containing therapeutically effective amounts of the extracts of Aphanamixis polystachya in combination with other known anti-inflammatory agents useful for oral, parenteral and topical administration.

TL;DR: Anatomy of the rachis, petiole and petiolule in 15 species distributed over 13 genera of Meliaceae is investigated and a key based on the anatomical characters of the leaf stalk is provided for the delineation of the taxa studied.
Abstract: Anatomy of the rachis, petiole and petiolule in 15 species distributed over 13 genera of Meliaceae is investigated. The mechanical tissues in these organs are invariably sclerenchymatous and rarely collenchymatous. Vascular tissue in the form of distinct bundles, an arc-shaped strand or a continuous cylinder is noted in different organs. Medullary bundles occur in Walsura and Aglaia, while cortical bundles are present in Aphanamixis and Khaya. Both the types are seen in Soymida. A key based on the anatomical characters of the leaf stalk is provided for the delineation of the taxa studied.
