TL;DR: An I/O pipeline model is presented, a model of a dynamic computation structure consisting of a sequence of domains: an input domain followed by one or more intermediate domains, and an output domain, and the design for such a facility is presented.
Abstract: New I/O devices with data rates ranging from 10 to 100 Mbytes per second are becoming available for personal computers and workstations. Along with continual improvements in processor, memory, and bus technology, these devices have enabled I/O-intensive applications for desktop computing that require input, processing, and output of very large amounts of data. We focus on an important aspect of operating system support for these applications: efficient transfer of large data objects between the protection domains in which processes and devices reside. A rapidly growing class of I/O-intensive applications is multimedia computing. After we present an I/O-pipeline model, we analyze issues relevant to the design of an operating system inter-domain data-transfer facility. Then we present the design for such a facility. An I/O pipeline is a model of a dynamic computation structure consisting of a sequence of domains: an input domain followed by one or more intermediate domains, and an output domain. >

TL;DR: It is argued that multiuser distributed memory multiprocessors with dynamic mapping of the application onto the hardware structure are needed to make available the advantages of this type of architecture to a wider user community.
Abstract: It is argued that multiuser distributed memory multiprocessors with dynamic mapping of the application onto the hardware structure are needed to make available the advantages of this type of architecture to a wider user community. It is shown, based on an abstract model, that such architectures may be used efficiently. It is also shown that future developments in interconnection hardware will allow the fulfillment of the assumptions made in the model. Since a dynamic load balancing procedure will be one of the most important components in the systems software, the elements of its implementation are discussed and first results based on a testbed implementation are presented. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for tracking client software use is disclosed, where user data, specifically user interaction with a client-installed software application, is collected in data files and the data files are dynamically uploaded over a global computer system such as the Internet, to a remote analysis system.
Abstract: A method and system for tracking client software use is disclosed. User data, specifically user interaction with a client-installed software application, is collected in data files and the data files are dynamically uploaded over a global computer system, such as the Internet, to a remote analysis system. The data files are parsed for on-going analysis of feature usage. Typically, for any action that a user performs in the software application, several items are recorded in a data file, such as a user ID, an absolute time-stamp, the method invoked including application source (if the software application includes more than one application), and details such as the dialog invoked, button pressed, menu used, menu item selected, application launch, application termination, as well as environment variables, such as operating system, screen resolution, etc.

TL;DR: A convenient, integrated automatic log-in platform with powerful security has been constructed using a smartphone-based fingerprint recognition function using the blockchain theory to prepare against tampering/forging/leaking of a user’s fingerprint information by hackers.
Abstract: Door locks and user authentication are the major issues in the current banking industry. There are a number of user future computing techniques, and security is especially essential to these methods. Existing digital door locks have the problem of opening easily with a stolen PIN number or by electrical shock. Thus, this study proposed and implemented an integrated automatic log-in platform based on mobile fingerprint recognition by applying the blockchain theory. As a result of this research, a convenient, integrated automatic log-in platform with powerful security has been constructed using a smartphone-based fingerprint recognition function. There are three major functions of the platform. First, it is possible to authenticate the user in PC, mobile device, and IoT environments through fingerprint recognition. Second, the platform includes SDK to develop application software for user authentication and IoT services. Last is its strengthened security using the blockchain theory to prepare against tampering/forging/leaking of a user’s fingerprint information by hackers.
