TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a method for determining a version of a software application targeted for a computing device based on attributes associated with the computing device and identifying a particular version of the software application, from among the multiple versions on the application marketplace system.
Abstract: In one aspect, this application describes a method for determining a version of a software application targeted for a computing device. The method includes receiving, at an application marketplace system and from a user associated with a computing device that operates remotely from the application marketplace system, a request that corresponds to a software application distributed by the application marketplace system, the software application having multiple versions on the application marketplace system. The method also includes determining one or more device attributes that are associated with the computing device, and identifying a particular version of the software application, from among the multiple versions on the application marketplace system, that is targeted for the computing device based on the device attributes. The method also includes providing, for display to the user and in response to the request, information related to the particular version of the software application.

TL;DR: A simulated-annealing based algorithm to partition an application specific system into a set of modules is presented and experimental results show that the approach produces better register-transfer designs with less global communications.
Abstract: A simulated-annealing based algorithm to partition an application specific system into a set of modules is presented. The role of partitioning is to discover the structure implicit in the functional specification of the system so as to guide high level synthesis decisions in a design environment for digital systems consisting of hardware parts and possibly software components. The partitioning algorithm can also be used to partition the final or intermediate results of a high-level synthesis process into several physical blocks. Experimental results show that the approach produces better register-transfer designs with less global communications. >

TL;DR: A controlled experiment examining the relationship between coupling in service-oriented designs, as measured using a recently proposed suite of SOC-specific coupling metrics and software maintainability in terms of the specific subcharacteristics of analyzability, changeability, and stability indicates a statistically significant causal relationship.
Abstract: One of the goals of Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) is to improve software maintainability as businesses become more agile, and thus underlying processes and rules change more frequently. This paper presents a controlled experiment examining the relationship between coupling in service-oriented designs, as measured using a recently proposed suite of SOC-specific coupling metrics and software maintainability in terms of the specific subcharacteristics of analyzability, changeability, and stability. The results indicate a statistically significant causal relationship between the investigated coupling metrics and the maintainability of service-oriented software. As such, the investigated metrics can facilitate coupling related design decisions with the aim of producing more maintainable service-oriented software products.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method and apparatus to develop user behavioral profiles of specific transaction access patterns for authorized users within computer application software, operating systems, network operating systems and firewall systems, and to monitor the ongoing activity of the subject user to detect unusual transaction activity.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus to develop user behavioral profiles of specific transaction access patterns for authorized users within computer application software, operating systems, network operating systems and firewall systems, and to monitor the ongoing activity of the subject user to detect unusual transaction activity. The method and apparatus may be used for early detection of “trusted users” that deviate from their normal and routine access of files and transactions supported by the specific application. Alert messages are then issued. The apparatus may then allow application administrators to determine if the activity should be authorized, and allow for this specific transaction activity to impact the profile so further alerts are avoided. The method and software tools may include a transaction activity harvester, a transaction parser, an analytical profile builder, a client identity builder, a transaction identification builder of transactions within an application, and a monitoring and alert system.

TL;DR: The author first presents a classification of simulation modeling tools, then a collection of features of simulation software, and a technique to reduce the vast number of simulation modeled tools to a manageable few.
Abstract: It is noted that the selection of appropriate simulation software from the vast number of packages available is a difficult task The author first presents a classification of simulation modeling tools Then, a collection of features of simulation software is discussed Next, guidance is provided for selecting a simulation modeling tool Lastly, a technique to reduce the vast number of simulation modeling tools to a manageable few is described The selection of simulation software depends on the problems to be solved as much as on the characteristics of the various modeling tools >
