TL;DR: DUALLy is presented, an automated framework that allows architectural languages and tools interoperability given a number of architectural language and tools, they can all interoperate thanks to automated model transformation techniques.
Abstract: Many architectural languages have been proposed in the last 15 years, each one with the chief aim of becoming the ideal language for specifying software architectures. What is evident nowadays, instead, is that architectural languages are defined by stakeholder concerns. Capturing all such concerns within a single, narrowly focused notation is impossible. At the same time, it is also impractical to define and use a "universal" notation, such as UML. As a result, many domain-specific notations for architectural modeling have been proposed, each one focusing on a specific application domain, analysis type, or modeling environment. As a drawback, a proliferation of languages exists, each one with its own specific notation, tools, and domain specificity. No effective interoperability is possible to date. Therefore, if a software architect has to model a concern not supported by his own language/tool, he has to manually transform (and, eventually, keep aligned) the available architectural specification into the required language/tool. This paper presents DUALLy, an automated framework that allows architectural languages and tools interoperability. Given a number of architectural languages and tools, they can all interoperate thanks to automated model transformation techniques. DUALLy is implemented as an Eclipse plugin. Putting it in practice, we apply the DUALLy approach to the Darwin/FSP ADL and to a UML2.0 profile for software architectures. By making use of an industrial complex system, we transform a UML software architecture specification in Darwin/FSP, make some verifications by using LTSA, and reflect changes required by the verifications back to the UML specification.

TL;DR: In this paper, a computer implemented method for updating one or a combination of the system software, operating systems, device configuration, application software and firmware of electronic devices via geographically located local communication points likely to be proximate to the electronic device being updated.
Abstract: A computer implemented method for updating one or a combination of the system software, operating systems, device configuration, application software and firmware of electronic devices via geographically located local communication points likely to be proximate to the electronic device being updated. The communication points are connected to local servers which communicate stored update packages to the electronic device which are pre-provided by the device manufacturers, or customize update packages to the device subsequent to a query response as to the state of software, firmware, and configuration of the device to be updated.

TL;DR: An extensible set of reference types that drive and constrain the mapping of components to hosts are described, and it is shown how this model elevates application performance and reliability yet requires minimal changes in programming the application's logic.
Abstract: The design of efficient and reliable distributed applications that operate in large networks, over links with varying capacities and loads, demands new programming abstractions and mechanisms The conventional static design-time determination of local-remote relationships between components implies that (dynamic) environmental changes are hard if not impossible to address without reengineering The paper presents a novel programming model that is centered around the concept of "dynamic application layout", which permits the manipulation of component location at runtime This leads to a clean separation between the programming of the application's logic and the programming of the layout, which can also be performed externally at runtime The main abstraction vehicle for layout programming is a reflective inter-component reference, which embodies co- and re-location semantics We describe an extensible set of reference types that drive and constrain the mapping of components to hosts, and show how this model elevates application performance and reliability yet requires minimal changes in programming the application's logic The model was realized in the FarGo system, whose design and implementation in Java are presented, along with an event based scripting language and corresponding event monitoring service for managing the layout of FarGo applications

TL;DR: The operation state machine (OSM) computation model is proposed to serve as the foundation of a retargetable modeling framework capable of accurately capturing complex processor behaviors and generating efficient simulators.
Abstract: Given the growth in application-specific processors, there is a strong need for a retargetable modeling framework that is capable of accurately capturing complex processor behaviors and generating efficient simulators. We propose the operation state machine (OSM) computation model to serve as the foundation of such a modeling framework. The OSM model separates the processor into two interacting layers: the operation layer where operation semantics and timing are modeled, and the hardware layer where disciplined hardware units interact. This declarative model allows for direct synthesis of micro-architecture simulators as it encapsulates precise concurrency semantics of microprocessors. We illustrate the practical benefits of this model through two case studies - the StrongARM core and the PowerPC-750 superscalar processor. The experimental results demonstrate that the OSM model has excellent modeling productivity and model efficiency. Additional applications of this modeling framework include derivation of information required by compilers and formal analysis for processor validation.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for converting a mobile web application into a native application and an apparatus using the method are disclosed, which may include: the steps of receiving at least one of a web implementation document that implements the mobile Web application and a uniform resource locator (URL) for a local file.
Abstract: A method for converting a mobile web application into a native application (the term “app” has the same meaning as the native application) and an apparatus using the method are disclosed. The method for converting a mobile web application into a native application may include: the steps of receiving at least one of a web implementation document that implements the mobile web application and a uniform resource locator (URL) for a local file; separating and analyzing a user interface element of the mobile web application based on the at least one of the web implementation document and the local file; and converting the mobile web application into the native application by mapping the analyzed user interface element to a native control that implements the native application.
