TL;DR: In this paper, Collins discusses the various theories and ideas that have made modern architecture what it is today, and explains what Revivalism, Rationalism, Eclecticism, and Functionalism really meant to those who practised them; and the influence of other arts and sciences on architectureal theory.
Abstract: This text is an attempt to deal comprehensively with all the various theories and ideas which, during the course of the last two hundred years, have made modern architecture what it is today. Professor Collins has avoided the more usual archaeological approach and has concentrated on describing the various motives which have caused architects to select one form rather than another. Thus, since this is a history of ideas, it should be of interest not only to those who specialize in architecture, and have read the standard works of Hitchcock, Giedion, Pevsner, and Joedicke, but also to all those with a general interest in modern history and the philosophy of art. It explains what Revivalism, Rationalism, Eclecticism, and Functionalism really meant to those who practised them; it deals with the influence of the other arts and sciences on architectureal theory; in fact, it analyzes all the notions which are most commonly used in discussions about modern architecture, yet have implications frequently unsuspected or overlooked.

Abstract: This volume provides an overview of the various approaches and developments in sustainable architecture, followed by an in-depth section on urbanism looking at several European towns. In the third section, the technologies, materials and methods of ecological architecture are examined. The volume concludes with 23 examples from Europe, which include works of Metron, Behnisch & Partner, Sonia Cortesse, Ian Ritchie and Kauffmann Thelig & Partner, amongst others. The author is an architect and has specialized in energy and environmental issues and ecological architecture for over 15 years. She is the author of a monograph on the firm Behnisch & Partner.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify four IT architectural stages, each with its own requisite competencies, and each stage demands different organizational competencies to implement the architecture and prepare the firm to move to the next stage.
Abstract: IT architecture is often assumed to follow business strategy, to align IT with the business's strategic objectives. Increasingly, though, many business strategies depend on specific underlying IT capabilities. To develop a synergy between business strategy and IT architecture, firms must develop organizational competencies in IT architecture. My research has identified four IT architectural stages, each with its own requisite competencies. The "application silo architecture stage" consists of IT architectures of individual applications. The "standardized technology architecture stage" has an enterprise-wide IT architecture that provides efficiencies through technology standardization. The "rationalized data architecture stage" extends the enterprise-wide IT standards to data and processes. And the "modular architecture stage" builds onto enterprise-wide global standards with loosely coupled IT components to preserve the global standards while enabling local differences. Each stage demands different organizational competencies to implement the architecture and prepare the firm to move to the next stage
