TL;DR: In this paper , a theoretical and computational model for the simulation of plasma flows in constricted arc heaters with radiation was developed to assist the design and performance prediction of arcjet-type high-enthalpy tunnels for hypersonic research.
Abstract: This paper presents a novel theoretical and computational model for the simulation of plasma flows in constricted arc heaters with radiation. The model was developed to assist the design and performance prediction of arcjet-type high-enthalpy tunnels for hypersonic research. The plasma flow field is computed by solving the axisymmetric Parabolized Navier Stokes (PNS) equations using a space-marching technique. The evaluation of radiation losses is performed using a 3D radiative transfer solver based on a multi-band absorption model. Flow and radiation fields are solved independently and then coupled iteratively until convergence. Both the physical aspects of the model and the numerical schemes used for the solution of the equations are described in detail. The last part of the paper discusses the results of calculations performed using the arc heater geometry of the University of Tennessee High-Enthalpy Tunnel (Tenn-HET). In particular, the effects of constrictor diameter, radiation model and plenum chamber have been investigated, outlining how they affect performance and flow physics of the arc heater.

TL;DR: In this article, the discharge plasma physics characteristic and power unit output characteristic on arcjet thruster were analyzed and the positive slope control of output characteristic was achieved by means of the design of constant current control and superposition positive feedback voltage.
Abstract: The discharge plasma physics characteristic and power unit output characteristic on arcjet thruster were analyzed. The positive slope control of output characteristic was achieved by means of the design of constant-current control and superposition positive feedback voltage. The arc operating was in the high-voltage mode state and the thruster worked steadily. The effects of electric parameters on working performances is obtained by experiment test.
