TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for automatically adjusting the volume of an audio system to compensate for variations in ambient noise is presented, which includes a microphone for monitoring the ambient audio environment which includes output of the audio system plus environmental noise.
Abstract: A system and method for automatically adjusting the volume of an audio system to compensate for variations in ambient noise. The system includes a microphone for monitoring the ambient audio environment which includes output of the audio system plus environmental noise. The system also includes processing circuitry connected to the microphone. The processing circuitry varies the volume of the output of the audio system in proportion to changes in the environmental noise. The processing circuitry comprises the microphone, located to detect the ambient sound in the listening environment, an analog-to-digital converter connected to the output of the microphone, and a digital signal processor connected to the output of the analog-to-digital converter. The output signal of the DSP is an input to the volume control of the audio system.

TL;DR: In this article, a microphone array senses an audio source and an audio processor is responsive to the microphone array to determine a direction (24) of the audio source (22) in relation to a frame of reference.
Abstract: A microphone array (20) senses an audio source (22). An audio processor (34) is responsive to the microphone array (20) to determine a direction (24) of the audio source (22) in relation to a frame of reference (32). The direction (24) comprises an azimuth angle (26) and an altitude angle (30). A wide-angle digital camera system (40) captures at least one wide-angle image. An image processor (44) is responsive to the audio processor (34) to process the at least one wide-angle image to generate at least one perspective corrected image (46) in the direction (24) of the audio source (22).

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for monitoring a plurality of audio sources and switching from one to another of the audio sources in accordance with a stored program is presented, where an audio output device receives a signal from each of the portable electronic devices and selectively switches the contents of its output according to at least one preprogrammed user preference.
Abstract: A system and method is provided for monitoring a plurality of audio sources and switching from one to another of the audio sources in accordance with a stored program. An audio output device receives a signal from each of the portable electronic devices and selectively switches the contents of its output according to at least one preprogrammed user preference. The audio output device also automatically communicates with transceiver modules connected to local information systems, for example within a vehicle, office or shopping center. Based on programs stored in a storage device connected to the headset, the local information sources may be monitored and selected to interrupt other audio sources received by the headset when desired.

TL;DR: In this paper, a metadata extraction unit has a feature point selection and motion estimation unit for extracting at least one feature point representing characteristics of video/audio signals in a compressed domain of the video and audio signals.
Abstract: A metadata extraction unit has a feature point selection and motion estimation unit (62) for extracting at least one feature point representing characteristics of the video/audio signals in a compressed domain of the video/audio signals. Thus, reduction of time or cost for processing can be realized and it makes it possible to process effectively.

TL;DR: In this article, an electronic apparatus is provided that has a rear-side and a front-side, a first microphone (420) that generates a first signal (421), and a second microphone (430) that generated a second signal (431).
Abstract: An electronic apparatus is provided that has a rear-side and a front-side, a first microphone (420) that generates a first signal (421), and a second microphone (430) that generates a second signal (431). An automated balance controller (480) generates a balancing signal (464) based on an imaging signal (485). A processor (450) processes the first and second signals (421, 431) to generate at least one beamformed audio signal (452, 454), where an audio level difference between a front-side gain and a rear-side gain of the beamformed audio signal is controlled during processing based on the balancing signal.
