TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a gateway device for use in a wireless network of digital audio playback devices, which is wirelessly linked to one or more digital audio players to provide a gateway to the Internet for the digital audio devices.
Abstract: A digital audio gateway device for use in a wireless network of digital audio playback devices. The gateway device is wirelessly linked to one or more digital audio playback devices to provide a gateway to the Internet for the digital audio playback devices. In addition to functioning as a gateway, the device provides additional functionality and may act as a cache of digital audio data for the various digital audio players connected in the wireless network and may also act to automatically update digital audio content on the audio players, synchronize digital audio content and playlists between the digital audio players and continue automatically or upon user request a particular playlist as the user moves from one digital audio player to another.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors combine audio compression and feedback cancellation in an audio system such as a hearing aid, and the feedback cancellation element uses one or more filters to model the feedback path of the system and thereby subtract the expected feedback from the audio input signal before hearing aid processing.
Abstract: The present invention combines audio compression and feedback cancellation in an audio system such as a hearing aid. The feedback cancellation element of the present invention uses one or more filters to model the feedback path of the system and thereby subtract the expected feedback from the audio input signal before hearing aid processing occurs. The hearing aid processing includes audio compression, for example multiband compression. The operation of the audio compression element may be responsive to information gleaned from the feedback cancellation element, the feedback cancellation may be responsive to information gleaned from the compression element, or both.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of operating an audio system that provides audio radiation to a plurality of listening positions includes providing at least one source of audio signals at each listening position, at each array of speaker elements is provided.
Abstract: A method of operating an audio system that provides audio radiation to a plurality of listening positions includes providing at least one source of audio signals. At each listening position, at least one array of speaker elements is provided. A filter is provided between the at least one source and at least one of the speaker elements at a first listening position. The filter is optimized so that the filter reduces acoustic energy radiated from the first array to at least one other listening position of the plurality of listening positions, compared to acoustic energy radiated from the first array to the first listening position.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a large capacity, user defined audio content delivery system that delivers uninterrupted music and information content (e.g., news by evaluating and encoding an input audio stream while outputting another stream).
Abstract: The present invention provides a large capacity, user defined audio content delivery system. The system delivers uninterrupted music and delivers information content (e.g., news by evaluating and encoding an input audio stream while outputting another stream. Undesirable audio content (e.g., advertisements and unwanted news) are not present in the output audio stream as only desired portions of information content are stored for playback on demand. The invention also includes a user interface that is simple enough to facilitate utilization of the audio system in an automobile and employs standard hardware available in typical computing and/or personal digital assistant equipment. Additionally, the audio system can be portable (e.g., as portable as a personal digital assistant) and can be updated in real time or off line via a personal computer.

TL;DR: This work exposes a serious vulnerability in FDM based additive manufacturing systems exploitable by physical-to-cyber attacks that may lead to theft of Intellectual Property (IP) and trade secrets.
Abstract: Additive manufacturing systems, such as 3D printers, emit sounds while creating objects. Our work demonstrates that these sounds carry process information that can be used to indirectly reconstruct the objects being printed, without requiring access to the original design. This is an example of a physical-to-cyber domain attack, where information gathered from the physical domain, such as acoustic side-channel, can be used to reveal information about the cyber domain. Our novel attack model consists of a pipeline of audio signal processing, machine learning algorithms, and context-based post-processing to improve the accuracy of the object reconstruction. In our experiments, we have successfully reconstructed the test objects (designed to test the attack model under various benchmark parameters) and their corresponding G-codes with an average accuracy for axis prediction of 78.35% and an average length prediction error of 17.82% on a Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) based additive manufacturing system. Our work exposes a serious vulnerability in FDM based additive manufacturing systems exploitable by physical-to-cyber attacks that may lead to theft of Intellectual Property (IP) and trade secrets. To the best of our knowledge this kind of attack has not yet been explored in additive manufacturing systems.
